Comment:

Never was very religious until I took Helms' course. Believe it or not, he actually opened up the Bible for me and helped me to come to a basic faith that has stuck with me for ten years, now. Sorry if it isn't cool, but thank you, Sir. (Also, he is a VERY good person outside of class.)

Comment:

Any Christian solid in their faith and well equipped in apologetics NEEDS to take Helms' course, Bible as Lit. He spouts off his slant incessantly. The average Jesus follower is not prepared to argue with Helms, a true scholar. The most detrimental fallacy of the course is that Helms, though VERY intelligent, believes he is infallable.

I love Professor Helms. I prefer his coverage of Romantic poetry to that of the bible. Still, he can do no wrong in my eyes and is my personal hero.

This man knows everything anyone could possibly ever want to know! He knows the Bible like the back of his hand. He's not an easy proff, but he is so interesting to listen to. His knowledge baffled me and I just sat and listened in awe! Take him its a great class!

I don't care if he believes in the Bible or not, nor do I care if he insults the Jewish/Christian religions. My problem with him is that he's so smarmy! He treats the class like 3rd graders. He treats the material covered in the first portion of the class with the same amount of respectâ€"that is, very little.
