I had him in 2006 and 2007 for learning theories, & DEP 3054 (life space dev psych), 4482 (death & dying) & DEP 4464 (psych of aging). His are the ONLY classes I still remember what I learned, b/c he DOES teach to the point where YOU can explain it well. I am grateful I had him. If you get a chance to take him, do it, if you really want to learn

Comment:

His class was very difficult for me. It caused a lot of stress because his tests are almost entirely short answer and requires much study time. It requires hard work, therefore slackers will not appreciate his teaching style. Although it was challenging, I got a B in the class and actually learned something from this class.

This professor only caters to grad students. Thank goodness he is retiring. I would not have recommended him to anyone! He clearly didn't respect undergrad students, and was rude, never answered question via email, and just plain didn't care. Sorry to say, "You need to go"

DO NOT. I repeat DO NOT take this professor. Thank God he is retiring at the end of Spring. Worst professor I've ever had. Tests are impossible and he's the most boring and senile old man you will ever meet. No sympathy for anyone and just does not care anymore. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS OR ANYTHING TAUGHT BY HIM. (I have him for Psych of Aging too)

This guy is a nightmare. 50 fill in the blank question that require word for word memorization out of the book is required and expected. If you ever dispute his grades he refuses to listen and bullies you out of any discussion. Teaches alot of info that a google search will show as incorrect.Said he was retiring in spring 2012.

Attendance is mandatory because of the lectures. The tests are 50 Qs & fill-in-the-blank. Difficult, but you LEARN if you do the WORK. The main problem is that he puts 3/4 test Qs from the textbook but there is so much to learn on the outline you can't really devote time with your other classes plus studying for the test to read all those chapters.

Dr. Russac is a very good teacher who always kept my attention. Definitely one of my favorite classes of all time...I certainly learned a lot and enjoyed his class thoroughly. Take him while you have the chance because he is retiring in 2012 I believe.

I adore Dr. Russac. The tests require you to study a lot, but he makes things very clear with his outlines. He is smart and helpful outside of class. If you are lazy, don't take him...I have taken 3 classes with him and would take more if they were available. I don't recommend summer classes because it is 16 weeks crammed into 6.

Psych of Aging should not be as difficult as Prof Russac makes it! Content seems clear, yet tests are rediculous! Fill in the blank mostly ( I usuallt have over 100 flash cards to memorize) and he pulls random fill in the blanks from the textbook, as if the class notes werent enough. DONT TAKE PROFESSOR!

Tests are really difficult. A couple questions come from the book..and if you don't know the answer it brings your grade down. If you get every answer right and just get the questions from the book wrong it brings you down a letter grade. He doesn't tell you what to know from the book so read it all. He wants you to learn but i found it ridiculous

GREAT lecturer! He explains the material extremely well. Attend. is not mandatory, but your grade depends on attend. EVERY class. YES tests are difficult, but if you study you'll do fine. His goal is for you to actually LEARN and REMEMBER the material, and that's why his tests are the way they are. If you don't want to learn, find a different Prof.

I took his 6 week summer class. ABSOLUTELY ABSURD! I have made straight A's (except a B in Stats) for 3 years. I spent HOURS studying his lecture notes and never missed a class. I got a C. What he teaches is interesting but he makes it very clear that taking summer classes is a waste of his and your time and tests accordingly.

Difficult teacher, only if you don't attend class! Tests are mainly comprised of notes he talks about in class so attend every class. About 4-5 questions on the test come from the book. The format is fill in the blank but there is no word bank! Sometimes he will ask you to write the definition! Tip: Notecards will definitely help you on the tests.

Dr. Russac is awesome. I've taken him twice and would take all of his classes if I wasn't done with my psych classes. You have to work in his class, but you definitely will know the material by the end of the semester. Hint: notecards and don't miss a class...95% of his tests are on lecture notes.

Yes, this is a challenging class. Yes, you have to study A LOT if you want even a chance at a B. But Dr. Russac is quite possibly my favorite professor in the psych department. I learned so much in his class; he's very knowledgeable and passionate about Learning Theory. I made an A in this class because I worked my butt off. Would take him again.

Do NOT take Russac for ANYTHING. The tests are the most ridiculous you will ever take in your life. They are created simply so that you will not pass. He knows this, and enjoys it. His lectures are good, but his tests are ridiculous. He takes great pleasure in trying to make them as difficult as possible just for the sake of being difficult. MEMORIZE your lecture outline backwards & forwards... it's your only hope. Would not take his class again, the stress is due to the instructor, not the subject matter.
