His class was the hardest class I ever took... and I got an A. It was very hard because he wouldn't cut you a bit of slack on papers (which were due weekly). But after I was done with his class... I could write one mean research paper. Probably the most helpful class I've ever taken even though I was miserable. Glad I took it

Ridiculous. He often graded based on your major and made extremely rude comments. The only reason I passed with a C was because of the high curve due to the fact that you must turn in every assignment to pass. Unfair and rude, do NOT take this professor!

Scary at first, but he really knows what he is talking about. I loved this class! But for anyone taking ENGL 1000, have you noticed the website on the syllabus? Look it up. I did and questioned him in class about it and he got very offended.. But he really is a great prof, I wish he was teaching 1100 and 1200 when I took those!

He is an extremely hard grader. Ex- when I used the word math, it was counted against me as an abrevitation (mathematics). He is very helpful after class or during office hours, however during class he was often unclear and I was lost. You have to do extra credit just to be eligible for an A. I got an A and he was overall not to bad a teacher

You read a play, take an easy quiz, watch 2 movies, take 2 more easy quizzes, write a MAX of 2 page 2spaced paper on all 3. Then you read fun short stories & take more easy quizzes..I have over a 100 in there w/out even trying.

Here's the truth. Schlobin knows his stuff, and he'll turn you into a great writer. I hate english, but I really benefited from this class. You have a paper almost once a week, but if you learn from your mistakes... you'll get an A.

One of the easiest classes you could take.If you're not an idiot or a sensitive person you should be okay. He offends some people but thats only because they don't use common sense and do dumb things. As he said "Get off of your Ass" and yes, I earned an A, if you're not mature and need someone to pamper you, this isn't the guy.

When it comes to teaching, this man stands above the rest. His lectures give you the tools that you need to succeed in writing. He emphasizes structure and gives you creative criticism. You have to have flawless grammar and MLA. He is an expert in the field of horror and fantasy. Another plus ? he is an HP Lovecraft fan.

He seems scary at first but he turns out to be a GREAT teacher and the test are REALLY easy... i never made less than a 92 on any of his test. Just read the stories and you talk about them for days in class, so he explains them all. WRITE DOWN DEFINITIONS... that is half of the test! TAKE HIM!

great teacher, a little bit unapproachable at first. but once you realize that he is not there to hurt you and it is okay to ask questions, you'll be fine. he treats students with respect and is happy to help.

Prof. Schlobin is tough and hard to approach. Asking him a question is a bit scary. He rambles and is a bit eccentric. All of that aside, he's a literary genius. I've done horrible in both classes with him, but I've enjoyed him more than any professor here. I took 3600 after 1000; bad idea, yet, even if I fail, I'll still be glad I took it.

such a good prof. that i decided to take him for both 1100 and 1200...I wish he could teach every subject because he knows the right answer to anything and everything including unlocking the doors to my future. Even after you finish his class he has no problem helping you with a resume or overlooking an important paper.

Intimiating. Completely unapproachable. The man has a library in his head, is funny when he wishes, and I learned a lot from him; I was just scared out of my wits the whole time. He is unclear on assignments and makes you wish you were dead every time you or anyone else asks a question. I came out shell-shocked and you probably will too.

He is very sarcastic and likes to joke around alot. He provides useful imformation for the tests in class and it's actually fun to go to. I used an older edition textbook but there is only one different section which he didn't really test on. Casebook is difficult but talk to him outside of class and you'll do just fine!

He comes off has a smart ass and seems to be a very hard teachers and it's nothing like that. The class was kind of boring, all he does is talk mostly about SAMS Club and his family. But he taught me a lot about writing, since I'm the worst writer in the world. He's a great teacher if you struggle at writing or you're a great writer and need an A

Schlobin teaches the essentials to becoming a proficient writer at East Carolina University. He is extremly knowledgalble and has taught me more useful information then any professor. You do not have to be a good writer to do good in his class because he will teach you from scrath. Loves cars though

Mr. Schlobin is a bit intimidating and his class isnt easy. Attendance and Class participation is mandatory. If you talk to him and ask him for help then it will pay off in the end. I didnt make great grades on the papers but I ended up making a B in the class.
