I knew little about music theory, but after I took Gratz, I actually understand a lot more than I thought I would ever. If you don't understand something, he will explain it a million different ways until you get it. Its a very student to professor friendly class with little homework but plenty of practice

I didn't think this was going to be even slightly interesting and assumed there would be hours of trying to suffer through a lot of classical music...I was wrong! The professor covered dozens of different music from all over the world! I learned so much in a very short one month class. Always interesting, something different everyday!

Not sure what class the last rater was attending, but this was a really great course. I learned so much about music that I did not know before (even though I listen to music all the time, read about it, collect it) in a very short time. He is very clear, interesting, and the class sessions were very diverse! Excellent class!

Took this class for Jan Term learned to play the recorder and was part of the final. Only three tests (open book but still difficult) watched videos and had to attend four concerts and write at least 2 pgs, show enthusiasm in paper and you'll be fine. Extra credit was given for reports in the textbook, not hard. Textbook recorder thirty five bucks
