The tests are hard but really good curve (50% is a B). Lectures are not that helpful, I learned most stuff from my TA. HW every week but not too bad. Do study groups to study for final and midterms. As long as you know what you are doing, you should get a B.

Professor Zieve had interesting lectures, explained things very clearly, and was approachable to students, which was important in a class made up of primarily first year students. Tests will definitely be more difficult than in high school because she aims for a class average of around 65%.

Professor Zieve expects you to know every little detail without telling you them. The homeworks are challenging and very time consuming if you actually want to get everything. The midterm was brutal, the average was 19/40 AFTER dropping your lowest scored problem. She really doesn't teach you how to do solid state physics, left disappointed and sad

Great teacher. QM made sense to me for the first time when I took 9he from her. My only problem is that she skips some material to simplify lecture, which actually can make it more confusing. She's good at phrasing weird things so that they start to make sense.

Professor Zieve is a great instructor and her class is very enriching. She will assign very long and somewhat difficult homework assignments, but they pay off in the end and will prepare you very well for the midterm and final. Overall, fantastic quality of instruction!

Professor Zieve unavailable to students, generalizes all students to be uninspired or lazy. I wish I could say something good about the class, but that is it. She a good teacher no less and no more. I recommend to anyone interested to take 9C. Run far away from Zieve to retain your sanity!

lectures are a must as the book isn't very exciting. huge curve in the class (~30 c-, ~40 c, ~50 c+, ~60 b- etc.) so there's no way you'll fail but it's impossible to get an a unless you're a genius. interesting class though, definitely worth taking if you like physics. good luck, have fun :)

I really liked Zieve's teaching style. She presents the math in a very straightforward manner without losing any rigour. Homeworks are long and hard, and make great practice for exams which are also long and hard. If you think Zieve is confusing, try reading the book before lecture. Boas is very clear and will help you prepare for lectures.

Overall class was tough, but she does state at the beginning that she expects the median on the exams to be a 60 or so. So don't slack off and know the material because her tests are def hard, but manageable.

good professor, helpful demonstrations in every class, knows what she is talking about,and she enjoys the subject. The tests are hard, and you never really know how you are doing because she curves the class at the end (this was nerve racking) and make sure to read the book.

confusing lectures, the homeworks take forever and the exams are extremely difficult.she makes the class a lot harder than it already is. I thought it would be helpful to read the text book but her most of the homework problems and the exam are nothing like the text book.

great teacher. cheesy sense of humor will keep you entertained in the class. goes off on tangents sometimes but they are mostly interesting tangents =P class itself isn't all that hard. just go to everything, do all the homework and you're guaranteed a pass

REALY hard class, but NO ONE fails. Also no one gets an A Expect a B if you get anything. Her tests are REALLY hard, that final was the worst one I've ever had! She isn't very good, but I don't like that subject. Requieds LOTS of time, the hw takes forever. really forever.

She has the cutest demonstrations in class to keep you entertained. very good lecturer. EXTREMELY easy to pass class, but HARD TO GET AN A. EX: On a 100 point test, 20 will be a C-, 30 a C, 40 C+, 50 B-, ... You get the picture. DELIGHTFUL woman. GL.HF.
