Dr. Poliquin is easily the best Math 115 professor at the U of A. His lectures are well put together and thought out and he also will explain common misconceptions students make. He is accessible outside of class and extremely helpful and friendly during office hours, to which I would highly recommend going. Relatively high expectations but 10/10

Dr Poiliquin is not a bad teacher. He stopped lectures mid-way to answer students questions or if he thought a student was lost--never seen that before and really appreciated it. His midterm was EASY but final was a good challenge but it was still fare. He was helpful for the few times I went to his office hours. Lot of in class examples questions

J'aime Monsieur Poliquin. Lectures are excellent because every kind of problem encountered in an examination is discussed. Every idea is introduced smoothly and there are rarely confusing moments. He is underappreciated for the subtle humour he injects into his lectures. I enjoyed the francophone flare added to otherwise generic concepts.

Great math lecturer that gets his point across very effective so you'll know what you need to know for the exams. The exams are hard but doable and no tricks that you haven't seen in lectures. I really like his sense of humour and some of his jokes are gems but unappreciated.

Loved this prof. Teaching wise, he was probably a bit above average, but his sense of humour made this class perfect. It's super dry, but if you keep an ear out in his lectures there are some real gems in there.

Rene was wonderful! He does a lot of examples in class that are similar to exam questions. Breaks down what is on the exam. He tries to give options when possible and is super helpful in office hours. Best Math Prof at the U of A

Extremely hard midterm and final. Marking scheme is extremely harsh, docking heavily for numerical mistakes which is ironic considering he made so many mistakes in class. Found him to be extremely rude throughout the term. If I didn't need this to graduate, I would have switched.

Dont know why everyone is hating on him. This is my second time with him and I think he did a great job. Everyone is mad because he gave a hard midterm, but the final was super fair. He even took a question straight from the homework. He gives a tonne of examples in class. Kind of expected that students review outside of class to do well..........

I really disliked this prof. Half the class failed the mid term (this is not a curved class)... so it was stressful going in to the final. Writes really fast. Makes frequent jokes that most of the class never catches (they're actually funny). Hard marker. Messy notes with lots of mistakes. That's about it. I wouldn't take calculus with him again.

Failing half the class, what does that tell you about a professor? Exam was ridiculous in length for 80 minutes, wrote deprecating comments on the midterm exam. Absolutely would not recommend.

I loved his way of teaching. His examples cover everything, and his way of explaining and solving questions make sense. So you have very comprehensive notes. He does tend to go through fast, often with minor errors in the equation which can be annoying. He skips over some confusing and unnecessary concepts that other profs teach, so that's nice.

Dr Poliquin was great!! He does go quickly, but he gives excellent examples and is very thorough with explaining concepts. He also has a really funny, quirky sense of humour. If you attend every class, do your assignments, do his practice questions and put in time with the material there's no reason you can't do well with him as the instructor.
