He's clearly knowledgable & successful & is sure to let us know time & time again, wastes so much class time bragging about his accomplishments. I've emailed him several times & NEVER received an email back from him. He acts like he's too good for everyone. Only 3 grades (tests) & forget about being rewarded for days of studying, they're impossible

Only 3 tests, including the final. Not too difficult. Don't have to read the book to pass the class, just read through your notes a few times for each class. He only allows 3 unexcused absences so make sure to go to class! His lectures are interesting and he's pretty funny. Definitely would take him again if I got the chance!

Ric Smith is one of the best professors I've ever had. I've had him on campus before but recently took one of his online classes. Of course being online there was a lot of reading and learning on your own, but Mr. Smith was extremely helpful. He responded quickly to emails and gave assignments that helped you learn the material. TAKE HIM!!!!

Ric was one of my favorite profs at Auburn. He's the voice of JHS, which is fun, & gives good examples for the material he teaches (Mass Media Law). Class dialogue & discussion was encouraged & helpful, but the tests were hard. Only 3 in a semester so they count a lot. No hw or quizzes. He does care about his students, but you have to work hard.

Ric is a great teacher. He's the PA announcer at Jordan-Hare so he knows everything he's talking about. I loved having this class this semester. Very entertaining and adventurous class. For someone who doesn't like to speak in front of people too much, it was a great experience. He makes it easier by pushing you.

I was worried about taking this class because of all the negative comments, but Ric is really helpful and he teaches interesting material. You have to work hard for a good grade, but it's college...

Ric Smith doesn't care about you or your grade at all. I can't even put into words how hard I've tried in this class only to receive awful grades back. He has 3 tests so it's set up to screw you!

Rick Smith is probably the most vein teacher I have ever had the misfortune of having in my life. only 3 grades, and don't bother with office hours because he will be about as useful as a bucket with no bottom. Seriously the most nit picky tests I have ever taken, and don't let him fool you when he says he wants you to succeed, he doesn't care.

Dr. Ric is very expereinced in this field and he has more stories to tell than a library when it comes to mass communication which made the class very enjoyable. Very laid back..good at expalaining. His test are straight from notes. Also, he is the Jordan-Hare stadium announcer which makes him and his class all the more fun. Strongly recommend him!

Ric is a really good teacher. His tests are can be difficult but are reasonable, and its fairly easy to get an A or B in his class. I'm not the studying type and still did well. I also really enjoyed his lectures. I'd highly recommend!

Prof. Smith is a really nice guy that wants you to know the material. The class seems like a cakewalk at first because he's lighthearted, but the test are challenging. Take good notes and study and you'll be fine. You probably won't need the book, but it can help.

Do not buy the book! He gives you outlines and powerpoints that are straight from the book so don't waste your money. You have to go to class which sucks because he gets way off track talking about himself and such. Test aren't easy but they are real challenging either. Nice guy and class overall.

Must go to class. Don't overlook his first test. Know the outlines back and forth more than anything. If you do bad on the first test it is hard to catch up. Never looked at the book.

Terrible teacher. His delivery is terrible. He brags on himself the entire semester. He says"I'm not trying to brag on myself," but that is exactly what he does. Don't try to avoid him, because it's impossible, but his tests are crazy, because if he doesn't like you then you're screwed! He basically gives you what he wants you to have.

He's a great teacher. He does get off subject, but his stories are always interesting & fun to hear. He is extremely enthusiastic and really cares about what he's teaching. While it would be nice to be let out early rather than listen to the stories, at least he can keep you awake at 8am. Study hard for the tests. Reading the book is helpful.

He trys to keep the class interesting but gets off subject way to much. Not very friendly outside of class. Go to class and print off the outlines for each chapter its very helpful. Really do not need the book but the online quizzes do help.

Nice guy, but goes off on too many irrelevant stories. Having an A in a public speaking class won't help you here. He grades strictly and harshly on presentations. Tests are hard and the study guides aren't helpful at all. Be prepared to work. HARD. This class became so stressful, I almost dropped it. Wish I had.
