Richard Ascough is a dream. His classes are interesting, his grading is fair, his readings and workload are manageable, and he is the kindest professor you will ever meet. So long as you like attending class and discussing the content (which you should! You are in university!) you will feel like his courses are a vacation from usual school stress.

Richard is a sweetheart. He really cares about teaching and learning. He is the least scary man on the planet which is such an undervalued trait when it comes to professors; it is so nice to have someone I can talk to without an awkward how-formal-should-this-be-I-feel-dumb kind of feeling. Take anything you can with him!

I've taken lots of classes with Professor Ascough (Rels 355, Rels 368 and Rels 321) and he is always passionate about his material. He is very helpful, marking is fair, and he is one of the nicest profs I've ever had. He does, however, expect students to be engaged and participate in class discussions in order to obtain a good participation mark.

I have taken a number of classes with Professor Ascough. He is incredibly passionate about his field and goes out of his way to make lectures interesting and engaging. He offers up very flexible office hours and provides in depth help outside of lecture if you need it. If you attend, are engaged, and seek help when necessary, you will do well.

Amazing, amazing prof. Best prof I've had in Queen's by far. He really engages the class and knows to be supportive and helpful during controversial discussions. Assignments and final were fair and he's always open to helping out. It's one of those classes you don't wanna miss, you get to heard people's view points on highly debated issues.

Brilliant prof. I had him for RELS214 and RELS237, and I wish I could have had professors like him teaching every course at Queen's. He's the sort of person that makes class worth going to!!

Easily my favourite professor at Queen's. I took this class as an elective in my last year and my only regret is that I don't get to take another of his classes. His lectures are perfectly organized so they are easy to reference, and the textbook is interesting and funny. Professor Ascough is very accommodating and helpful. Take RELS216 if you can!

Amazing Prof! My favorite prof at Queen's. Lectures are interesting and he is very interactive with students. Marks hard. To get a good mark must either know the information very well or be really good at essays.

Greeeat class! Despite the early hr of his class, i still enjoyed going to it. Although he cracks jokes almost every few minutes (they are not always funny haha) they still lighten the mood and make the class enjoyable. He is a very kind man and will go the extra mile for students. Overall, he is one of the best profs in the religion department.

Great Prof!! Very helpful and has a sense of humour. He is very knowledgeable and is student-sucess orientated. It's usually pretty hard to get a good mark on the first assignment but after that it gets much easier. Overall, if you have a chance to take a course by him do it!

Great prof! His essays are not hard at all (well, for a history major, but we write essays all the time!) and he is very approachable and helpful. His lectures were always interesting, and he helped the students gain a better understanding of the subject matter. I hope I have another course with him soon.

I had more fun in his class than in just about any other class at Queen's. It's great fun to be taught the New Testament by a man dressed in a devil costume (on Halloween).
