Comment:
Portfolio due at the end of the semester allows you to hone your throwing skills but procrastinate until the end of the semester. I definitely put in at least 30 extra hours outside of class. Not pricey at all and makes great gifts. Would take again.

Richard is a super smart guy who is ridiculously helpful and chill. Regardless of what ceramics class you're in, he has the answers. Show an interest and Richard will respect you. He's the most "there for you" professor I've ever encountered. Enjoy SDSU's ceramics facilities too-- they are great!

Very unorganized from what I experienced. It was his first semester teaching Art 103 and you could tell he made up assignments at the very last minute. Didn't keep any of the projects. If you have your stuff done on time, he will still let others turn things in late. I thought it was very unfair. Had to take to class for pre major.

Four projects, four critiques, one outside project- simple. If you want to do well, you must ask question after question. Otherwise he'll just walk past you and say, "what are you making?" He's very knowledgable, but has clearly lost his passion/interest in teaching..sucks for the students. you'll do fine, but be frustrated if you want mentoring.

Mr. Burkett is an extremely intelligent person. You will not only learn a ton about ceramics but also about all sorts of things. The other teacher for ceramics is rude, and not very smart. Definetly take Richard- he is definetly the better teacher. He is clear, patient, funny, easy going, and kind

I love Richard. I will take him again. He's very down to earth and communicates well. He gives demos and helps whenever needed. The projects are assigned appropriately and he is very patient. Fun class. (I just wish it was a little more concept based)
