Professor Cooley is awesome! He made this gen-ed class enjoyable by relating European history to events going on around us today. Quizzes are super easy; he does an online pre-quiz the class before the real quiz so you know exactly what's on it. You will have to do some writing but take this class it is so worth it!

Comment:

He was my favorite professor of the semester. I got excellent grades on everything I turned in, but he still gave me in depth feedback and places to improve. He's a funny and caring guy, and he really cares about you getting a good grade and wants you to work for it. Quizzes are super easy, the pre quizzes are the actual quiz. Love him!

Funny and great guy. On the quizzes there are no surprises as he gives you the quiz ahead of time. Tests are essay format but you are allowed a note sheet. 2 essays that he grades somewhat harder on. Overall, pretty easy A.

Awesome class, super interesting lectures and gives you a pre-quiz/test the day before the real test with the exact same questions and answers. Attendance isn't mandatory. Great professor would recommend to anyone

He cares about his students understandings. He gives you pre quizzes the day before an actual quiz with the same exact questions on it so thats pretty great. I will say his lectures aren't that investing unless you really enjoy European history. He does do a lot of small group discussions too, nothing you are graded on or have to share out loud.

Took him for my social studies capstone, spring class so it went really fast. It was a three hour class, twice a week. He is a very good professor, take him if you get the chance. He is very enthusiastic about the material and he has had many years of teaching experience (both at GVSU and teaching high school). He really cares about the students.

I can honestly say Dr. Cooley was the absolute best professor I have ever had. He offers so much insightful information in his class and he genuinely cares about his students and how they are doing in class. Class didn't seem to be mandatory but I would never miss it because there was always so much great information for future teachers to use.

Professor Cooley is the best professor I have ever had at Grand Valley. He gives the most practical advice for teachers to be. The assignments weren't overly hard, but they were worthwhile to do. It's okay to miss classes, but then it's hard to make up the in-class work.
