Honestly this class is pointless. Professor Cowan doesnt do anything but sits in the computer the entire class. His TA does all the work and sometimes you feel bad for him. Professor Cowan is really nice but its hard not to get annoyed. If you take the class do all the work in advance get an easy 'A' and use the rest of the class to do other work.

Comment:

Whole class consists of reading off the textbook and doing exercises. There are small projects which spice it up but not so much. Professor does not know a lot, but just enough to teach the class. At the end of the day, a good class for those interested in Flash that want an easy A and some time to talk with friends.

Very easy. Posts practice tests that correspond directly to actual tests. In class he just reads from the book. You mostly have to learn on your own when you are home. There have been multiple instances when problems in the book have stumped him. Easy A, you will not learn a whole lot though.

I'm skeptical of how much he really knows, because he truly never helped me understand anything I was having difficulty grasping to begin with. However, he's very easy-going and not hard to impress. Please note that this course was in Alice animation -- he may be far more strict with programming language and true tech courses.

On the first day, Cowan pretty much said to open your books and do what they say from page 1 until the end. Dont bother asking questions- he doesn't know anything about Flash or Director. He needs the book more than the students. He gives out quizzes and gives assignments that don't count toward your grade. All this aside, he means well and is nice

Doesn't care about the class at all. Doesn't show up sometimes and at a college where 99% of the classes are tought by profs, he's in that 1%. If you have a question, he is impossible to get a hold of and won't answer your questions. And whatever yo do, DONT TAKE COMP AND INFO TECH IF IT'S NOT REQUIRED.

Dick is not helpful; nor are most of the TAs for this class. I had to teach myself with the help of the one TA who actually knows what's going on. Fortunately the class material is easy. Dick, however, is condescending and not at all helpful. Aptly named. Sorry, I can't help but be honest. And I'm not an angry student or something, I've a 100%.

Not a bad teacher. He's there if you need him, if not, you can follow the directions the book gives you without too much of a problem. The assignments are helpful in teaching you the material, the quizzes however, are not. Overall, if you're going to take this class, he's the guy to take it with.

Does not teach a single thing. You are expected to do everything out of the book. Nine out of ten classes, he might as well not even be there because the only time you will talk to him is if you have a question the book doesn't cover. That aside, he gave no hw and the class is easy. Attendance by sign-in sheet, leave whenever you want.

Easy as cake. When I took the class he gave us the coding on the labs. That was great. You don't have to follow the guidelines, just make sure everything he asked for is there. The final was open book, and I think I only got one question wrong because I wasn't paying attention that day. Easy going guy.

Decent teacher, nothing special, but the class is pretty easy if you keep up with the labs. He's also quite helpful if you're ever having trouble with anything. Tests are a bit annoying though, and his "humor" leaves a lot to be desired. Just tune him out and you should be fine.
