Painful and overly long assignments are assigned every week, bearing hardly any resemblance to the midterm and final exam style. Class is completely optional (just read the textbook). He discusses trivial and basic concepts in class, yet demands much more for the homework and final exam.

Very hard, because of the weekly assignments, that were nearly impossible to do on your own, we had to do 7-8 hour group sessions to try and figure these things out. Harris is one of those teachers that make me lose my interest in Physics.

People don't do well in his class because people do not understand physics. Many expect physics to be plug and play ie given 'm' and 'a',what's 'F'? Harris' way is to give you the tools and think your way out of the problem. A very Oxbridge way of approaching a problem. Seeing the comments here, many are just not Oxbridge material.

Terrible Teacher, but a good guy. It was a semester of hell with this guy. I would never want to take him again. Hopefully he curves everyones grades, because i will fail if he does not.

As a person he is not that bad; he is helpful in tutorials and in his office; but in the class, this is such a disaster; his examples are way too easy compared to what he asks us in assignments and exams. He wastes his time explaining easy concepts while he skipped important pieces of math and more complicated and general cases. The book is useless

He's a nice man. His teaching method sucks. He had us buy a 120$ book flown in from the UK, that he later told us not to bother reading for the exam. His class examples are way too simple, he routinely skips important mathematical details in his derivations and assignments much too hard. Avoid signing up for his class if you can.

Seemes to be an ok teacher, i was understanding class concepts and was able to get the CAPA questions but his exams ful out murdered me they were nothing like the capas and were wayyyy to hard ...there were people sitting outside his mid term crying and that didnt seem weird...not a good sign

To all those who say Prof Harris is bad: YOU HAVE MISSED THE POINT. Yes, his lectures may SEEM useless at first, but delve further and you will notice they are nice concise versions of txtbk chapters. MORE IMPORTANTLY, his notes are full of impt CONCEPTS! Many of you just study w/o clear concepts. Which is why you ppl find his notes useless!

awful! don'e even waste your time showing up to class, stay home and read the text, it's much more useful. Assignments are VERY hard and he does not teach you what you need to know in order to do them. most people fall asleep in class.
