As most of U already no that Dr.Lockshin is a bright man. He is 1 in many that teaches U how 2 think in the real world not just 2 memorize facts & spit it out. it is true that he is boring but he is also very helpful and forgiving. There were incidents in our class & he was very kind 2 give THOSE PEOPLE a 2nd chance to reexamine their mistakes.

Terrible Teacher. Yes, he knows his stuff, but he is absent a lot because of his cancer discovery, and he was absent the week before and day he gave a test!!!DO not take him!!! there a two test and a final. He gives you the questions, but he is never there to answer any questions regarding the test!! His lectures are boring!!

As everyone knows Dr. Lockshin was the man who came up with the whole concept of Apoptosis, he's a great scientist but when it comes to teaching ugh, its a pain in the you know what. He definately helps you out but his tests are so open ended

Okay, there is usually a difference between highly intellectual professors and know it alls. Lockshin is a know it all. I had him for developmental, he keeps bragging about his accomplishments (he's a harvard old boy). Forget textbook use, all questions are essay type and you have to research your answers before the exam (he gives them in advance)

Science is my world. Took him for evolution and felt that all he did was talk about how smart he is. Such a showoff! Big disappointment. Especially difficult for non-science majors. Expected too much time to be put in a core class. Didn't take attendance & didn't teach in class. Test answers had to be just the way he liked. Avoid like the plague!

Expects us to be fascinated and intrigued by him. Also talks about how important of a person he is in his field. Thought the class would have been interesting, but far from it. Wrote his own text but only can access from SJU computer. Expected us to know all material although he never went over it. Powerpts don't help at all. Avoid! Waste of $$

This is one professor who DOES NOT deserve a single negative comment. He is one of those teachers who knows their material and also knows how to teach and convey all these materials to students. He makes you think and learn in his class, not just memorize things. If you don't want to work and use your brain, then don't take him. Excellent teacher!!

Class isn't easy. And the guy who said he's the best the department has to offer needs to change his major to BIO lol. But I got an A- in his developmental class. Don't bother buying the textbook. Cause the questions are so abstract that you have to literally research your answers (he gives the essay questions beforehand) and remember them.

This is horrible. Hour and a half long classes. Test made up of essays and when it comes to study time, you have to read his boring book that he wrote because the powerpoint slides are just pictures with no text. Avoid!!

Most of the people who gave negative comments just couldn't handle an ivy league genius. A genuine intellect, prof. Lockshin is a leader in his field (ask him about PCD). Ask him questions, his responses won't bore you, that's a promise. He is the best the bio dept. has to offer. TAKE HIM for an amazing experience. Oh, and I got an A.

Avoid him like Ebola. Had him in 1982. After reading the commnets from more recent students not much has changed. He's still on the Harvard jag (graduated from there) but he still feels being @ SJU is beneath him. Talked down to people then. Called us morons also back then. He's the reason I left SJU and went elsewhere for schooling. Glad I did.

He's really nice and wants his students to do well. Brilliant man, but he was really boring and taught things in a way that was hard to understand...I can't count the number of times I've fallen asleep in his class! He gives you the exam questions ahead of time and tries to help as much as he can.

It's really simple, we're not in high school anymore. I got an A in Dr. L's class because I did something most of the rest of the class did not: I studied my a** off! The time for the easy way out is over. Real life awaits after graduation and Dr. L is trying to prepare us to compete with people who went to REAL universities. Quit crying and work!!

Avoid this class by all means. He does not curve the grades even though 75 percent of the class failed. He uses powerpoint which has ONLY PICTURES from the text, and he just lectures from those pictures. He gives NO NOTES and his exam questions are very unclear.
