I took this class for a gen ed but ended up loving it. My TA was amazing and professor was very understanding. So cute and is so passionate about music. He even made me consider taking more music classes because I learned so much and found most it easy. There are quizzes and listening logs each week but they are easy if you pay attention and study.

If you're trying to fulfill an art GenEd, take this class if you have a passing interest in music or culture. If you have no interest in music or culture, then you should NOT take it. The material gets esoteric for music majors, as it this course is a requirement for them, and it's impossible to google all the answers to the online quizzes.

Very boring. He really likes the most boring music on the planet, and then rushes through the stuff thats applicable to performance today. Gives no motivation to get up for 8 am.

Comment:

Prof was really interested in the material and knew what he was talking about. The class is pretty much an overview of music history. Listening was hard, but scaling and extra credit made up for it. Take the class seriously and you will do fine. (though it was not worth getting up at 8am, Mandatory attendance, 15% of grade!)

Great guy, passionate about subject, but class can be boring. Read the book, do the online quizzes w/book, study book for tests, 2 pretty easy papers, and go to disc. sections--they're helpful. Pretty easy GedEd. He's also understanding for unforeseen circumstances involving late work.

I think Eisenstein is really a nice guy. He's a sweet man and he is really willing to help. Granted his class is boring, but he doesn't complain when you skip it, and will teach to a room of 5 people.
