Comment:

Nice guy on outside, but ugly on inside. Please don't take. I'm the only Christian in his persuasive speech class and he hates religion and anyone with a differing point of view. I don't care what people believe in, this is America. But someone who is biased in grading, and promotes propaganda should have his pension taken away. Very unethical.

Comment:

Basically a paper every week, good amount of extra credit, one heavily-weighted speech where you get a redo. A lot of writing that is expected from a HCOM class. Super hilarious professor that makes the time fly by. Extremely knowledgeable in various topics, expect to be up to date in current events. Helpful and will make you a better speaker.

He knows the material very well, and enjoys what he does. Nice guy, but tough grader in the end it is worth it because you learn a lot. Test can be difficult but are not a major part of your grade.

I took this professor back in 1988 for a class called argumentation and debate. Everything he taught me was opposite from what Donald Trump does. Let me compare how that has worked our for me. I am poor, Donald Trump is a billionaire. I can't get a promotion at work, Donald Trump won the Republican Primary.

Dr. Gass is a funny teacher. He never seems to run out of jokes! Always do the extra credit it's impossible to get a decent grade without it. He's a critical grader when it comes to papers but he gives great feedback. He assigns three papers that eventually becomes one big paper. There's a midterm and a final.

Anyone who has COMM480 as an option for an elective should definitely take it with Dr. Gass. With the extra credit and grade curve, it is fairly possible to get an A on exams. He is a tough grader on essays but he wrote the book for the class, so I can see why. Its a challenging course but its not boring so you might just enjoy doing the work!

Professor Gass is one of my favorite professors at CSUF! His lectures are really interesting. There are 2 papers and 2 tests in the class and about 8 extra credit assignments. His exams are HARD, but luckily all the extra credit you do is applied to your exams. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT. I didn't buy the book but it would have helped.

It's challenging as a 400 level class should be. This class is great, however, because his book is written by him and therefore supplements his lectures and all course-work. The tests were very tough and you need to not only study but truly understand the material. HE GIVES EXTRA CREDIT THAT WILL SAVE YOUR SOUL. Do it. It's easy.

Dr. Gass is extremely funny. As cheesy as it sounds, I look forward to going to this class. He has found a great balance between work and learning. The workload is more than manageable, and he offers extra credit. He wrote the book which is user-friendly, and makes the content easy to understand in class. Study the guides, and you will get As.

Dr. Gass is hillarious and caring. He takes the time to get to know his students and makes a dreadful class subject enjoyable. The class times flew by because he kept us entertained. Take Dr. Gass if you can.

Really helpful. He responds instantly to all emails and will pretty much help you with everything. I didn't buy the book and didn't need it. Do the extra credit, and ask for help on the paper and you'll do great :)

This class content is not the most exciting, but he makes the class fun because he is hilarious! He is very clear on what he expects from you and his lectures are very precise. His tests are challenging but if you read the text, and study the power points you should do well. He gives you a study guys and tons of extra credit opportunities as well!

Great teacher, Why cant all my teachers be this TEACHER! I have attended 6 different types of colleges and this is a great class! Easy to grasp. Final is hard Do yourself a favor and keep up with the reading. Gives a study guide Fair grader. Very helpful.

Dr. Gass is the best! He's funny, nice, helpful, what more could you ask for in a professor? The assignments were relativeloy easy, extra credit opportunities aren't too challenging, and he does reviews for exams that are always helpful. Take him! He will make the class worth your while.

But there are time-consuming assignments-- two papers and a group experiment with a presentation. Take it if you're really bored or need the credit, but don't expect to be challenged or learn much.

Dr. Gass is awesome. Takes attendance kinda regularly but gives you 4 absences before a penalty. He's really funny too, you'll enjoy going to class. Never engage him in debate though..you will lose. I would not recommend buying the textbook. Pay attention to assignment point value, some 1 page papers are worth a lot. Overall highly recommended
