Comment:

Nice person but all over the place as far as teaching. Not good for many learning styles, have to understand basics to understand him. Not for beginners. I felt like I didn't learn a thing which is not good for my major!

Dr. Hirsch does an excellent job at teaching this course! The course material can be difficult, but as long as you attend class and pay attention in lectures it's fairly easy to follow. Just be advised that sometimes the practice quizes are easier than the actual ones, so make sure you understand the material before attempting it.

This man was literally the most unresponsive and uncooperative prof I have ever had in my life. I spent a full semester just trying to get him to respond to emails and phone calls to reschedule a final I missed due to a family emergency. I ended up having to stalk him several times in his office just to get a response.

He's a good professor - some people just get overwhelmed because he has so much material to cover in class. If you stay on top of the reading and you pay attention in class, you shouldn't have problems. If you do, he'll meet with you. He's very fair and has given our class latitude several times.
