Professor Robert Katz was one of the best professors I had in my college career, which includes a BBA and MS. He was an exceptionally gifted professor. May he rest in peace.

Comment:

Had him a few years ago and did fairly well too. However, after a few years of tax practice I realized he was just teaching "his textbook" version of the IRC and he could've perhaps used IRS forms to demonstrate things better. He could've also explained the incentives behind rules to make them easier to understand. It was just difficult all around,

By far the best professor at Hofstra. His class is extremely hard but if you study what he tells you to and put time into studying, you'll do fine. He tries to make class entertaining and fun which helps make the material a little less dry.

This guy is no joke. His classes are by far the hardest classes i've ever taken at hofstra. NEED TO BE ON YOUR TOES EVERYDAY. EACH MATERIAL WILL BE ON EXAM. KATZ and Finklestein are the same. If you can get through Kat'z classes you should be proud, cuz its that hard!

Very tough. I'd rather do the GMAT than sit through his exams. I checked - most who did well in his class were bookworms that DON'T work full time. If you have a second major and work, he'll exhaust you...

Katz is a reality check for people who think that the real world is smooth and easy. It's really sad b/c he does prepare you for tax EXTREMELY WELL. If you want mediocracy, goe elsewhere. I love it when I see honor society students freaking out because he took off their training wheels and they actually have to study hard :)

This professor, while extremely difficult at times, will prepare you with everything you need to know for tax. If you work hard, prepare, study, show respect, and show him that you want to do well in his class, there is no reason why you should do poorly. Best professor i have ever had. He is no joke, he takes his class very seriously and he puts a lot of effort into teaching the material. He expects his students to put a lot of effort in studying. His exams are very difficult but if you study his notes and all the things he reviews in class, you will ace it. Also go to his office, he will help you.

he's not mean like every1 says. PEOPLE ARE LAZY. if you just PAY ATTENTION from 9:35 until 11:00 and learn how to take notes, you'll NEVER HAVE TO REFER TO THE TEXTBOOK! if you can "man-up" and go to his office hours, he will help you if you're having trouble grasping the material. Practice exams are similar to the real exams, they're so helpful!

After all that hard work I put into his class, he gives me a bad grade. Heartless freaking man that doesn't care about anyone but himself. Don't waste your time with this professor. He doesn't care how hard you try to pass his class. He ends up giving you a bad grade. All I can say is thanks a lot for nothing. Avoid at all cost! Take Petra instead.

i regret taking this class with katz. you will end up doing a lot of work and will learn but the class will kill your gpa. be ready to put in hours and hours of effort each day to get a grasp on this material. it is a tough class and the professor is not nice nor helpful. youd be better off taking the class at night with a better prof.

you'll definitely learn a lot but their is a cost. hes impatient, unapproachable and not nice. unless you ask a question that he thinks is meaningful he'll yell. tests are hard and based almost entirely on pp's. homeworks from book aren't on tests. at the end of the semester youll have learned a lot but that doesn't mean you'll have a good grade.

Terrible teacher!!...When going over exams he does not even show you how to get the write answer...He will just go over it really fast and you have to visualize what he is saying!!..How the hell can you visualize tax answers...The man is a sarcastic ****!...If you ask him a question he will scream at you in response and make you feel stupid!...
