Comment:
Prof. Lugannani is by far my favorite professor! He is a great lecturer, funny, truly cares about his students. Maybe 3 or 4 homework assignments throughout the quarter. Exam are extremely fair! If you go to class and do the homework and look over his previous exams, there is no reason you shouldn't pass the class or even get an A!

Fair and hilarious. Teaches by using examples. If you study and practice the old exams enough, you should get at least a B. He curves at the end, so no matter what you got throughout the quarter, if you get above 85% on the final, he'll give you an A. I didn't do well on my midterms and still managed to get an A in both classes (45 & 109).

If you want to get a good grade for ECE45, take his class. If you want to truely learn materials, aviod him! His lectures are confusing and he always makes many mistakes on the board. Four HWs are graded. Two hour tests and one final. Exams are straightforward but you will have to do all the old exams by yourself in order to do well.

He's got a wickedly dry sense of humor, you can expect the class to burst into laughter at least once a lecture. Homework and old exams are excellent preparation for the midterms and final, as they're the same types of problems. Would definitely recommend him for ECE 45.

Comment:
Course material is relatively easy for an ECE course. He's not a bad lecturer, got some sense of humor. Tests were very fair -- as long as you follow class examples and more importantly practice homework and practice midtermfinal questions, you should be set. Straightforward class, he doesn't throw curve balls. Would take a class with him again.

Good at teaching ECE45. But he will disappoint you if you take ECE109 with him after taking ECE45. Yes, he is easy comparing with other professors. No, he is not quite good at teaching probability courses.

Material gets gradually more difficult. Notes were unclear and often copied incorrectly. He's a nice guy and willing to help if you're not self entitled and arrogant. Knowledgeable about his field. Will often dodge "off-topic" questions. Has a sense of humor. Will recognize students sitting in front row. Somewhat intimidating at office hours.

One of the best teachers I have ever had. He is a hard ass but funny and nice at the same time. His grading is fair and he makes his policies very clear. Class is not easy but he is very respectable. You will learn a lot.

I failed ECE45 with Zeger, that class was extremely hard, the final was 100% of my grade. I took it with Prof Lugannani this quarter and his material is different that what I previously learned, with easier methods. He is a funny guy, still young on the inside. I'm taking him for ECE109 next quarter :)

Agree. I never took any random process course before, but still got an A. I don't feel I learned a lot useful stuff from this course except learning how to solve problems, because he doesn't explains physical picture a lot. The materials are not easy. However, if you can go through the old exams by yourself and learn the tricks, you will be good!

Very boring course and useless. You can barely learn something no matter whether or not you have taken similar random class before. You mainly just learn how to derive some equations from this lecture, because he spent little time explaining the concepts or pictures. You should take stochastic courses from Math department instead of ECE....

Professor Lugnanni is by far the best ECE instructor at UCSD.He is very knowledgeable and a perfect lecturer. His tests are not very easy but very reasonable. He has lots of practice exams which will help you a great deal.I loved attending his lectures, discussions and Q&A sessions. He is simply the best. If you get a chance take him for sure :)

He uses proofs and ex's to explain material but will give more general guidelines to solving problems if you ask. He's quite a character, keeps class interesting, and realizes you are a STUDENT who is trying to learn AND have fun in college. Exams are difficult but he has a ton of practice probs, use those!! I want to take another class with him.

He is an old dude, and for any visual learner he is totally incomprehensible. I learned nothing from him, total waste of my money. I ended up teaching myself the material, don't know why I pay ucsd when I teach myself the material. This class was a waste, and I stopped attending after the third week. I don't recommend him

Decent professor. Moves slowly through the material. Lots of examples. His conventions are a little outdated. Fun guy.

Overall great class and teacher. His homeworks are doable with a little help has a great resource to study for midterm and final. Do all his sample test and you will be good. His teaching could be better but test is pretty easy(expected problems). Easy to get A.

45 is easy if you know your 35 stuff, if not just study a bit harder or you can realize Lug's testing patterns. The only problem I have is that he still uses i for complex number instead of j. Two midterms, 4 homeworks, 50% final. Everything averages around 70% I would say. All around, I feel somewhat prepared for ECE101.

ECE 45 with lugannani is straight forward if u understand his proofs and can apply them to examples...however, if u rely on examples to understand material, make sure u go to office hours and do all the practice tests

I liked "Lug" so much in 45 that I took him for 153 and thought he was fine. He posted all his old midterms and finals on the first day. His teaching style is proofs, but if you wake up they can teach a lot. His homework is impossible by yourself, but in doing it you learn more than you do in class. His tests are hard.
