Don't believe the bad press. He's a good guy, but he's not going to put up with any foolishness. Ask for help early as he doesn't think the same way that most engineers do and it may take him a bit to figure out what you don't understand.

Does not teach well at all. Likes to teach things the hardest way possible. Don't ask for clarification unless you absolutely have to. He might help, but he will definitely make some comment to make you feel dumb. He gets off by failing students.
