I took Dr. Sauer for 5 different classes including Greek. He was sincere, knowledgeable, approachable, and caring. Even so, he expected the best out of us students so be prepared to work hard. A quiz most classes and lots of reading. His insight into the biblical text helped me every day. I still think of him now 15 years after graduating.

Dr. Sauer is easy to understand without sacrificing content. He is also available to answer questions. He clearly cares about students. Also his commentary choice is excellent and Scripture meditation really adds to the class experience. Those two elements provide easy points making it possible to do well in the class even if you don't test well.

Dr. Saur has been a phenomenal teacher this semester. His grading scale is very gracious so it should be an easy A if you do the homework, however, be warned there is a lot of it. You will definitely come out of this class having a solid understanding of basic Greek grammar.

Sauer is an extremely godly man and gives great devotions at the beginning of class. He is interested not just in the academic advance of his students but the spiritual growth. Great Greek professor!

Comment:

One of my favorite professors at Moody. Gives great devos every class and his love for God and for his students is so evident. Do the reading and you'll get A's on quizzes, and if you're lucky he'll have "bigger fish to fry". His lectures are pretty simple and very applicable. I don't agree with all of his romance advice, but overall great prof!

?Dr. Sauer is a knowledgeable Godly person and a good teacher but I was disappointed when I went to him for counseling. He didn’t seem to sense my pain nor show any compassion but the worst part of the experiences were in that he was very poor on getting back to me or even responding to my questions.

The best teacher I ever had, yet the worst person to go to for counseling, he is impatient, lacks sensitivity and poor on follow-up”. I will look forward to his class but not seek out his advice on relationships again.

Bible Intro. People often over-exaggerate teachers at Moody. Its impossible to over-exaggerate Sauer's knowledge and classroom presence. He's an expert, funny, and engaging. The only knock is that he focuses a lot of time on dating and marriage which can be a waste of time if you're not 18 and single.

Best teacher I have ever had. Gave me and most of my class a passion for learning Greek. Not only did he excel in exciting people to learn the Bible, but he also genuinely cares for/helps his students. Some people have said they don't like his accent, personally I liked his southern (Alabama) accent. Great prof and very Godly man.

Dr. Sauer cares so much for his students! You should definitely meet with him outside of class. He teaches Bible Intro (the best prof to take for that class), Greek (also one of the best for this), and, although I haven't taken it, I have heard people rave about his class on the book of Hebrews. HIGHLY recommend Dr. Sauer.

Dr. Sauer clearly cares for his students. Meet with him outside of class! I have had him for Greek Grammar and Bible Intro. Everyone also raves about his class on the book of Hebrews. He is the best prof to take for Bible Intro and for Greek. He is extraordinarily wise and godly, and his classes are always helpful and interesting. HIGHLY recommend.

Does devotions for every class. Strong Southern accent, teaches in a preaching voice, calls you by your middle name. The class is well-structured. I made 90's on nearly every assignment as long as I studied. Once you get used to his commanding presence and hence rise above any shyness you have, you can learn greatly from his classes.
