Dr. Burns is a great teacher and great person. Say what you want about how he teaches but you cant say he was a genuine caring teacher. Go to class as much as possible. Get a friend who takes good notes. Not a lot of room for error on test and quizzes so stay on top of it. Wouldnt recommend for a 1st semester freshman.

My favorite professor I've had so far at TCU! I took the 8am Intro to Criminal Justice class and he made the class so engaging and interesting for an 8am. The tests are heavy on content from the textbook with some questions coming from the lectures. there were 4 tests and 5 pop quizzes from the readings. Do the readings and study & you will do well

Great and humorous professor, makes a 8AM class enjoyable. Would recommend if taking CRJU course. Not an easy class, if you make sure you stay on top of reading an B/A is achievable.

Dr. Burns is the best! He made 8am lecture more enjoyable with his own stories and experiences. We had 5 "pop" quizzes, but he pretty much told us which days they would be on each time. He was super easy to meet with outside of class for extra help. Be sure to read the textbooks AND pay attention to the lectures because both will be on the exams.

This class was not easy for me. His tests questions come mostly from the readings but they come from very specific portions of the reading. The only grades in this class are 4 tests and if you don't do well, there is no way to get your grade up.

Dr. Burns rocks. I had a high B half way through the semester and went to his office hours and he helped me so much with preparing for tests. He made an 8 am something to look forward to.

Burns is an amazing and cool professor. There is a lot of reading from the textbook but if you take good notes on the readings and during lectures you should be fine. This class was very interesting and I learned a lot from it.

The readings are long but match up with the lectures really well. Take detailed notes over the lecture and readings and study from those really well and you will find the tests easy. I balanced his class with freshman bio and chem and still got an A, so it's doable!

He is sooo interesting. The class is at 8 am and he makes it interesting enough for you to want to go. You must read the 2 txtbooks to do good on the tests. Not an easy A but if you study you can make an A

Federal Law Enforcement. Burns is very nice & helpful. Class is interesting; but info is probably taken off Internet. 1 research paper = easy. 1 book report = easy. 3 exams covering info from 2 textbooks, in-class videos, & lectures. Exams are difficult! But, if study, can get an A. But, not an easy A. I would reccomend Burns.

Burns is amazing. He's funny, energetic, and he has a good sense of humor. I didn't do well because I didn't try, not by any faults of his. He lent me his lecture material when I missed class. The class is hard, but if you actually study and somewhat enjoy the material, you'll pass.

I had him for Critical Issues, too. Both classes were challenging- you'll work for your A. However, if you graduate without taking him, you'll be missing out! He is funny, entertaining, insightful, thoughtful, and dedicated to making your class experience a great one. I looked forward to his class every day. Hands down, the BEST PROFESSOR AT TCU!!!
