Very nice teacher. Takes her work very seriously so don't expect to breeze through or not show up and expect to get an A. Really works with you to improve your vocal ability. Lots of reading quizzes and two group projects. Work is pretty easy if you put the effort. She makes sure everyone is respectful in class and everyone feels comfortable.

One of my favorite professors/classes at brockport. I am not interested in theatre whatsoever, but i took voice and diction with her to fill my fine arts w/ performance credit and i really liked it. She genuinely cares about her students. Interesting class with a do-able amount of work. I would definitely recommend.

Ruth is so awesome. Easily my favorite professor so far. Made sure everyone in the class was comfortable with each other which made us all so close. I enjoy going to this class and I look forward to it. Quick and very easy reading quizzes every other week or so and 3 over all assignments that are very easy if you do them! She's the best!

Ruth is a great professor! I took Voice and Diction with her and I learned a lot of new, interesting things. The reading is a must but quizzes are easy. Recommended for all majors and she's an easy grader!

Great professor hands down. I enjoyed Voice and Diction very much. Ruth is funny and kind. Class can be very fun and easy. There are reading quizzes weekly, but they are short and not difficult. There are 4 presentations throughout the semester including the final. As long as you rehearse, you will do very well. I recommend this class to everyone!

Don't be fooled, Ruth is not a good prof. She is a really nice women but the class is nothing like expected. If your taking improv for a gen ed it will not be fun and goofy. She takes everything very seriously. Other improv classesd do fun games she does not. There are many assignments and stressful presentations, no joking around in them. IT SUCKS

Anyone who is saying you have to conform to her way of thinking has a huge ego. She's teaching you something... not forcing you to think the way she does. If you let go of your ego, you can really learn a lot from her. She's a great person and a great professor. Take her class!

She is a very nice woman, and a good director, but a horrid teacher. She runs the acting class as a "see how close you can get to if I were performing it" contest and teaches very little. If you don't follow her method, you face her British-wrath. She's very patronizing and pompous. I don't recommend her for higher level acting classes.

Ruth is likable and talented, but I thought she got a bit too caught up in certain modes of thought in acting... to the point that it becomes overly mannered and studied. While it was nice to learn more physical approaches to acting, the is only so much "breath work" can do for you. Also, she seemed to favor male students, but I could be wrong.
