She goes with the textbook and is crystal clear in her explanations. This class was an easy A. I don't know why so many people are so nasty on here, but what do you expect from an intro class, people?! She was an ok teacher.

Sally is a great teacher. The problem with these comments is that some people are bitter about having to take intro design classes and they take it out on her, despite the fact that she is a good professor and very understanding. My advice is to get tknow her and not just rag on her because you didn't like her design lecture. She's fantastic.

The class was not all that bad. Although, there is a ton of work, it's just another stupid entry level class you have to take for art core... all in all I thought she was a pretty nice lady. AND she has lots of guest speakers!

overall you are putting a tremendous amount of work into only a few fundementals. INSANE amount of excercises followed by an equally rediculous project. I have heard that the curriculum for this class is changing, though... my TA, christina garza is going to be the prof next semester. she's got some good ideas for revision.

packard's lectures are somewhat disorganized, and her test questions are poorly worded and often ambiguous. she's also pretty impersonal- don't expect to get to know her. the TAs are generally helpful, but grading is extremely subjective.

lectures leave a lot to be desired. she runs over 5 days of material in 1 hour. lectures are pretty much the only time you will see her. if you get a good TA, you are more likely to pass or get a better grade. assignments are unclear and sometimes totally pointless, but will take 12-24 hours to complete. be prepared not to have a life.

She is ridiculous. Her test questions are ambiguous and usually have more than one right answer, although she only takes one. She's always criticizing Denton and Texas, which is NOT part of the curiculum, which is mostly useless, anyway. I've heard she's quite rude in person, if you can even get ahold of her. Not a very good prof, I think.

Where can I begin? Her lectures are SO BORING and so is the material studied. The actual lab part is okay but I find it to be useless and it really doesn't teach you anything. She seems nice, I suppose, but Design 1 really is not worth your tuition money. Too bad you have to take it to proceed into the art program of your choice.

This class is the most worthless class I have taken. If you think of taking this class SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY! even if you are a design major you may want to reconsider before you waste your time with this class. The projects are pointless. The only thing that you will get out of this class is lower GPA and Empty your wallet.

i feel raped for time, if you take drawing I and design I,(continued with drawing II/design II) you will probably have a lot less time to sleep, the assignments are cutting out shapes. gluing them on bristol board, or painting glue, or maybe painting. time consuming, and not challenging, all of them are ambiguous with poorly written directions and no liberties, there is no solid definition for an assignment, just what the ta's interpretations are. its sad.

Lab is informative but boring. The TA's aren't very helpful and agree with whatever you are doing. Grading system is terrible because you can do 4-5 exercises and not know what you made on them for weeks. Overall the class is a pain in the ass.
