Comment:
I appreciated the fact Sarah read so much and clearly had a grasp of the concepts she taught. However she didn't have much patience with people who didn't agree with her. She didn't have patience with people who questioned her. I also will never forget that when I included that feedback into my evaluation, Sarah made me change it.

Sarah Williams is the reason I'm still in school. She asks perfect questions to gently guide your thought process. If you're the type of student who knows where you want your education to take you (and where you want to take your education), take an interdisciplinary program with Sarah. A rare professor who teaches you how to think.

Sarah Williams is not just a professor. She's a revolutionary. She changed my life. She is also THE most challenging teacher/mentor I've ever had push me. I bawled my eyes out in the program I took with her. Sometimes they were tears of awe & inspiration, sometimes tears of overwhelming frustration (fermentation!), at the end--tears of respect.

I think Sarah is the true definition of what a teacher should be, she doesn't just regurgitate concepts from a book back to you she lectures and pushes you to do your best and use your mind. If you are expecting and easy class this then she is not for you because she is going to push you to learn and expand your mind.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for intellectual, deep thinkers. I loved everything about Sarah. I took her course dance of consciousness as a freshman, she opened me up to so many interesting topics and really pushed me to grow.

Sarah is a great faculty member that truly cares about the success of her students. At times she is a bit confusing due to her intellect and the way her mind works, but is very understanding and attentive of this. Sarah is very helpful and extremely knowledgeable in many fields. Great teacher for neuroplacticity.

Sarah is a passionate professor who cares about the wellbeing of her students and their success. Her teaching style REQUIRES you to take responsibility for your work, and she won't hold your hand, but she'll support you through the process. If you can't handle that, don't take her class. If you can, it will be endlessly rewarding.

Comment:
Sarah lectured in a roundabout manner which made it very difficult to ascertain what she actually wanted us to take from the lecture. She talks poetically - so poetically that it's annoying. If you're teaching in a public institution and are judging the performance of students that depend on the quality of your lectures, try to be more concrete.

I think she would be a great teacher for a philosophy or feminist study class because shes very passionate. Even so, I didn't enjoy her class as I felt it was misrepresented in the catalog. She didn't listen to students who had a problem with this class and DID tell her that they felt some of the activities in this class were unclear and unhelpful.S

Sara is a difficult person to learn from. She claims that the assignments are open to interpretation but gets angry if you don't interpret them in the way she wanted you to.. but won't tell you what that is to be "divergent". She plays favorites, and isn't open to people having different opinions.

Can facilitate interesting discussions, obvious interest in subject matter (but can border on preaching). Plays favorites, doesn't take challenges against "academic authority" can be vindictive, do not get on her "bad" side

Advice: go to the academic fair, meet her, ask questions that matter to you. She will give honest replies and you can gage if she is someone you want to work with. I feel blessed to have worked with Sarah, it was her classes that kept me in school. In a changing college she is one of few professors who uphold the values Evergreen was founded upon

Things have drastically changed within academia and within this change, Sarah's approach of introducing the learner to the learning is quite radical and visionary. If one is truly open to learning, Sarah offers an honest and supportive space in which to explore. If you are willing to challenge your own conceptions of learning, take her class.

Sarah will push you a little, but she has good intentions & only wants to help, although she won't 'baby' you. She's creative & competent. I agree if you have low self-esteem or lack stress management, she will be intimidating. But she will agree that the "pupil must be driven almost crazy" before she/he can learn anything. Trust me. Take her cls.
