2 weeks into a 16 week course, all the surpises start coming, all the way to the "class trips" that you have to go to on your own, like Kentucky! Luckily I dropped real quick, and found a super easy class called michigan history, which replaced this class. If you have your heart set on failing, then take geology. Automatic fail!

You will work your butt off if you want an A. He did make some students feel dumb for asking questions. Challenging class. Do ALL the extra credit and have a good lab partner! Sit in the front row! He cracks jokes, if you catch them. 1 group project. If you are lazy, this is not the class for you.

I disliked this teacher very much. Extremely boring. Everything is powerpoint or everlasting videos that have absolutely NOTHING to do with the criteria. The book doesn't go with the work, he complains about the authors all the time. He makes you feel dumb when you ask questions as well, which really bugged me. I wouldn't recommend him.

Don't take unless you already know everything about the class. His notes are very unclear and sparatic. Doesn't ever tell when a test is unless someone asks. He bashes the authors of the book and says they don't know what they're talking about. Things are on the test he didn't even talk about. Makes you feel dumb for asking questions

Do not take this class, its really hard his notes are not clear at all. This material is really hard and boring as well. If you miss one day he takes off points. Doesn't let you know when is next test unless someone in class remembers to ask.

He's very quiet and monotone. A lot of people had trouble hearing him in the back half of the room. Didn't use the textbook much, almost exclusively PowerPoint presentations. His lectures are all pretty boring and he makes quite a few bad jokes, but if you show up, take notes and do a good job of memorizing them for tests then you'll do well.

One of the worst professors I've ever had. Make sure to read the whole chapter in your book because that's the only way you'll learn. He's a horrible, arrogant man. He'll laugh at your questions and get very defensive about his love for rocks. He docks your grade if you miss one day.

I'm really good in science. I couldn't get past this class. The instructor went the entire 3 hours of class talking. Never asking for questions unless he thought you were making fun of him. Absolutely boring.

I can honestly say I am sooooo glad this class is over. Most everything about this class is boring, the group projects are not always easy as he doesn't explain things all that well, and usually goes to the end of class. He also makes fun of you or anyone in the class for asking questions that he thinks are no-brainers. Not nice. Take notes and study to get good grades on test/quizzes and projects.

if you do the work, study, take an interest in the subject, participate in class, and ask questions when unsure, you can easily pass this class with a 4.0. I hate science, and I absolutley loved this class. Mr. Sarnecki knows his stuff, makes you have a passion for it too. Take him, you will not be sorry.

Mr Sarnecki is a good guy and I found him to be very helpful. When I get the chance I am going to take Michigan Geology as an elective. You will never look at depositional features the same again. I never expected to enjoy this class.

I thought he was decent, much better than most. You have to be willing to read the book, take good notes and study (a little). Grades easy on group projects and definitely the Extra credit boosts your grade.

Not the easiest professor I had, but an A is probable by studying for exams and doing the extra credit (the Canada field trip was fun and extra credit). Lab quizzes were hardest for me. Agree with comments about making you feel dumb for asking questions, but once stood up to, he backs off and class was more fun.

This is the worst class I have ever had. The lectures are extremely boring and do not make much sense. Even if he reviews for the test, that is not what is on the test and they are extremely hard. Although he states in his syllabus if you are struggling talk to him, but don't bother, he really doesn't care.

Mr. Sarnecki is a good guy. He has a unique way of teaching that exudes arrogance but he knows what he's talking about. He is so into geology and actually seems to enjoy teaching it. He is not just at Macomb for a pay check(unlike some). Contrary to other opinions, he is approachable and his tests are easy if you have decent study habits. Easy A

We did labs all the time. He is a very smart man, yet a bit sarcastic and snotty. His field trips were great though. The one to Canada was great fun. His tests aren’t that bad since we go over the material the day before.

I thought he was great because he tests every two weeks. If you mess up on one, you can still get an A. Labs were tough. If you study the notes and read the book, you will do fine on his tests. I would take him again anytime

It's only the 3rd week of class, and this guy is a nut. Tests at beginning of class, then lectures for the rest of the 3 hour period. Expects you to know everything from first day, and makes fun of you when you don't know answers or ask questions that don't seem relevant to his ridiculous brain.
