Is really understanding and does help with the material. I took him to get a foot in the door to learn Japanese and I got that and more. The material is overwhelming the class is not. Don't skip you will fall behind

Comment:

Suzuki-sensei is a great teacher both in English and Japanese, though I think she's better at teaching language than linguistics. She gives thorough feedback, always reviews material before tests, and encourages students to come to her with any questions anytime. Honestly, she makes it really hard to get a bad grade.

Suzuki sensei is a great teacher, there is no doubt. She is a native Japnese speaker, so she incoprorates common language to formal language taught in Genki. She is a great explainer, but a very, very picky grader. It helps students master the language, but also harms grades easily. Great teacher overall

Suzuki sensei is great! She's also a linguist so she brings interesting perspectives to lectures. She also realizes Japanese is a difficult language to learn, which is why she grades rather harshly so students can keep up.

Suzuki-sensei is adorable and obviously extremely intelligent, but can be a rather harsh grader. The readings were also repetitive and rather bland, but when the course title was "Language and Gender in Japanese Society," I wasn't really expecting much else. All in all, a lovely professor.

Suzuki-sensei is the best Japanese teacher I have had in America. She is very good at answering questions and explaining things in a way that is easy to understand, but without resorting to English. There is no text in this class, and she is open to student input as to what is covered.

One of the more strict of the Japanese prof's, and sometimes difficult to keep up with in class, but friendly and helpful out of class when she has time. Classes are sometimes fun, sometimes all business. At the end of the day, though, you have to take her classes just for those knee-high leather boots. Wow.

A hard grader....Takes points off for mistakes in topics which you hadn't discussed in class previously. Plus - makes you reiterate stuff until is perfectly right, so you don't remember your mistakes, talks about cultural norms a lot as well.
