I love Organic thanks to Petrich. I took both semesters with him and felt like I learned a whole lot. He can usually be found in his office and is always willing to help or talk. The class is curved and there are opportunities for extra credit. Also he does test corrections because he actually wants you to know the material.

You have to be there everyday! The test are hard just because there is so much material to cover, but he let you do test corrections! I enjoyed the class just a lot of material to learn.

Dr. Petrich was a great teacher, especially considering the difficulty of material. Although you may be struggling all year, he curves the tests fairly, and your grade for the most part reflects how much you learned. If you are really having a hard time, he has office hours daily and does not mind helping. Also his sense of humor is top notch.

Petrich is a tough professor but after leaving the class you will realize what you learned even though during the semester you are completely lost. His tests are the main source for grade and are extremely hard. However, the tests are curved based on the average score of that test.

The course is extremely difficult, but he is a very fun and helpful professor. You will have to study a ton to earn the grade you want in this course. But he does offer 50 bonus points and grades on a curve.

NEWS FLASH: Organic Chemistry is a hard subject to learn....You cannot be a feeble minded individual and expect to rote memorize this stuff. It seems the people who down scored Dr. Petrich most likely did so because the class was "TOO HARD". In reality most of these down grades come from people who are poor students and unprepared for O-Chem.

Probably the hardest class you will ever take. Not only because of the material you will cover, but because Dr. Petrich doesn't spoon feed you the info. It's not impossible, though. Study. Put time into it, and ask questions. He's not in his office very much, but make an effort to visit frequently. Dr. Petrich is a great person and advisor!

Scott Petrich is an excellent educator. I took his organic chemistry course several years ago and recently graduated from a doctorate program. He requires a high level of accountability in his students and expects a lot of effort both in and out of the classroom. His tests were difficult, yet fair.

Dr. Petrich is an awesome person. He really cares, he just likes to put on a front to weed people out. Go to his office, STUDY, and build a relationship with him. He will help you, but you've got to put in the time and let him know you want it. His teaching prepares you for what is to come. You'll appreciate it eventually, but its hell during.

Grade has little to do with how hard you work...be prepared to have zero life, learn little, and learn to HATE chemistry even if you thought you liked it. And for a bonus you can put up with his evil smirk as you struggle. Avoid at all costs.

For this class you HAVE to talk to him outside of class and be prepared to study all the time and have no social life...but that's the nature of Organic and this class is his baby.

As a graduate student in organic chemistry, I now have much more of an appreciation for how Dr. Petrich taught his course. Sure you have to work hard in his class, but it helps prepare the students who are willing to work for their next level of education.

Of course it's hard--it's organic. But relevant examples would help, which Petrich doesn't seem too keen on supplying. And it would be nice if he graded consistently and fairly, too. And if he didn't smirk when you asked him a question.

I learned a lot. You have to work for your grade, and take advantage of outside help. I felt like it prepared me for graduate school level classes (I'm now in dental school). If you can't do well in his class (as in pass), you really shouldn't be going to medical or dental school. Just my opinion.

Good organic chemistry teacher, but only if you get help out of class. Only about 6-10 people get an A or A- in his class, but you learn a lot from him and it will showed in my MCAT. Awesome teacher, very nice, but only if you are willing to work hard.

Havent learned a thing in this class. Likes to repeat things over and over while contradicting what he said last time. Sometimes forgets that this class is required of most Drury students and that most dont want to be there, and that going so far unnecessarily in depth doesnt help anyone. Usually had to ask Deeds to clarify Petrich's points.
