He could hear you out. When I accidentally turned in the wrong paper, he contacted me immediately and explained to me how I could turn in the right one with no repercussions. He was a fun person, and overall a great teacher, would recommend.

His lectures never really made sense to me. Most of them seemed pointless. Lots of papers and the topics were very wide. He always took awhile to get grades back. You never really know what you have in his class which became frustrating. He is nice but was hard to get ahold of. You do get points for attending class though!

He was a very good teacher. If you ever need help he would always be there. Be ready to write papers. Best teacher I have had so far. If you give the effort for a good grade, you will most likely score high.

Professor Smith is one of the best on campus! As long as you do the work and put in effort you are guaranteed to get a good grade! All he asks of you is to write about what you're interested in and hit all the needed criteria in the paper.

Comment:

Shannon Smith is a professor I would definitely consider taking again. The class is pretty simple - you have 3 essays (about 4-5 pages in length) due as the semester goes on. You are given plenty of feedback along the writing process, which really makes it easy to know what works and what doesn't and improve your work and grade along the way.

Pretty easy and never needed a book. Only grades were papers you had to type. He made a big deal out of them and the topic, but was no different from when I was in high school. Pick a topic you like and go at it. He does make you group up and tell the paper to your class for feedback. He will also read and help you improve it.

The only bad thing I have to say about him is that if you need to get ahold of him forget it because he does not check his emails. He is however forgiving and will let you make it up to him in class. If you show up and put up effort you will pass!!

Not helpful whatsoever, I was constantly lost in his class with how much he got off subject in his lectures. If i personally asked him a question he would answer so vaguely that i still did not feel comfortable with starting my paper after leaving class. And email, forget about it, you wont hear from him for days if not longer.

I would never take any of his classes again...EVER. If you are looking for a professor to be helpful, respond to your emails in a reasonable time, or grade your papers timely, he is NOT the professor for you. I had to email him multiple times to get a response,and wait the whole semester to get a grade back. Least helpful professor I have ever had.

He gets off topic a lot by telling stories or jokes. First essays were easy A's. Last few were much harder, and he doesn't help much. Very slow with grading and almost never responded to my emails. Wouldn't recommend.

Made class interesting by telling stories and interacting with the students. Also group work made the day go smoother. Very late with grading papers. Very easy class. As long as you do the 3 or 4 essays you'll be fine. Attendance was 1 point per day i believe. Cool laid back guy. would recommend!

He is a very lax teacher. He knows his stuff but just can't keep things in gear. Is always late grading things. Was after mid-term and he still hadn't graded the first paper we turned in. Definitely would not recommend him to anyone!

Very laid back teacher, easy, and very helpful with his feedback on essays. I'm NOT the greatest at english as far as writing goes, but I found him to be very helpful and encouraging. He does grade a bit slow, but I didn't mind considering I did every essay required for the summer course, but I PASSED; with flying colors!!! Easiest A, EVER.
