If you truly care about learning Chinese, then take her class. She is a nice teacher, very passionate about teaching. The class is not easy, but if you put in the effort, you will definitely get an A. Not to mention you will learn how to speak Chinese! :)

Complex language, once you go to the class depends of you if you study, if you do so the class will go by very easy and fun, once you're able to identify it and understand it and speak it you'll be amazed! I love it! Great Professor! (: Very passionate!

Comment:

Ms. Fong-Evans is a dedicated teacher and she likes her students. She is always available and has made one of the best language textbooks I know. She demystifies the language and introduces you to its complexity and beauty. The textbook is an excellent reference source and if you follow its logic you will learn this complex and beautiful language.

Really good teacher, I've been in the class for about half a semester now. You have to study and use the book a lot, but you will really learn Chinese. She is really helpful too, when students need help she comes 30 minutes early to class to teach you. I recommend taking this class.

I took Chinese 120 and it was not an easy class but if you listen to Siu-Fong you will get an A in class. You have to put time after class by reviewing the material learned in class and practicing the vocab. You will use the book 100%. If you have any questions Siu-Fong will be gladly to help you!! I love this class and I learn a lot!!

Without Mrs. Evans help me with everything I wouldn't get an A in this class. I don't understand why people have no trying and just keep saying bad about others. In class was really fun. We were learning at the same time we had fun. No kidding, she really helpful, if she teach Chinese 121, I would take it with her.

I don't know why other people kept telling on this rate that Ms. Evans is bad. In my experience of this semester, of course, Chinese is new to me, too. But our Ms. Evans is very helpful, kindness and fun and it help me a lot in learning new language.

If you want to learn chinese, don't take this class. It's very difficult to the average person who has no background in the language, and will make it even harder to understand. The teacher can be rude and degrading; she also forces you to work harder if you are look asian. I am asian, but I don't look it that much and as such got away with more.

She is a terrible teacher! I dread going to class like it is the plague. She is insulting and degrading if you do something wrong and will judge you because of your race. She doesnt teach, she tells you what to teach yourself and has you recite it to her to get a grade. She is also using a textbook she wrote herself. Its the worst text I ever used.
