I think Venu is one of the best professors I've ever had. He really knows the material in and out, and is genuinely concerned about student performance. You can tell that he really values teaching, unlike a lot of other professors at this university. I look forward to having him again in the future. I wish his name weren't so long.

Comment:

He tries to keep lectures interesting by making corny jokes, but no one pays attention in class. All he does are "proofs" for equations. Ppl only showed up for clicker questions. Tests are excessively difficult (10 m/c can really screw up ur test grade). Disc is easy, but mastering physics hw sets are time-consuming. Study A LOT for the tests!!!

He really enjoys the physics and the math behind everything he teaches. He is also a very nice guy. The tests are VERY difficult and are not always easy to predict. Only a few questions which require COMPLETE understanding and beyond. VERY DIFFICULT, but then again there is a curve.

Very, very nice guy, but be sure you study the homework problems and some of the lecture notes, because the tests are VERY tough. Always willing to help you and chat with you if you've got problems with the material...or if you just feel like talking. Thumbs up!

This guy is really nice, but he's not afraid to give a test everyone will bomb. His lectures are next to useless because he just copies the textbook, and hardly does any new examples(if any). Don't plan on learning anything in class. 95% on your own, drilling problems over and over. 5% in the office hours. If you ever need him he is glad to help.

Venugopalan is one of the few professors who actually cares about undergraduate education. In other words, he's got an open door policy. You can actually wander into his office and ask questions. And, wonder of wonders, unlike other profs here, he'll answer them without making you feel stupid! Venu rocks!

Dr. Venu is a REALLy nice guy who makes lots of jokes and brings in fun toys to make lecture interesting, BUT his tests are VERY difficult, while at the same time appear to be fair. I feel that no matter how hard i study, I don't improve in this class and I'm always 20 points below the average...grr

very nice guy but impossibly hard class! i've taken many science and math classes and done well, but this is by far the hardest!!!!! i wouldn't recommend this class because you will spend every second of your life studying...but it's hard to hate him cuz he's always smiling!

Unclear, notes were scattered and went at too fast a pace. His TA has a meanstreak a mile long and is meaner in office hours than in dicsucssion where degraded students. If you don't understand or appreciate Physics, then say goodbye to your life, self-esteem and most importantly your GPA.
