Comment:

Dr. Brock is friendly and helpful during office hours. Study the notes very well and practice for exams. She takes off a lot of points if you miss specific parts of answers she looks for on exams. They are difficult. Lab is a pain, but try to get as many points from lab as you can because getting points from lecture is much harder.

Comment:

She's the lab coordinator for CHM 1230 so it's mostly up to the TAs. In terms of the exams she created, they were reasonable for this class. As long as you understood the lab and did the assignments on WebAssign, the midterm and final were manageable. She also hosted review sessions before exams which were very helpful!

HORRIBLE! She was apparently supposed to be my prof, only ever saw her during exams. Takes a long time to respond to emails, if at all, and very unclear about what is really needed for your grade. Holds no lecture, leaves everything to TAs. Most people in my lab section ended up failing her exams. Good luck if you have to take her. You'll need it.

EXTREMELY unclear with the homework. Very unorganized. Never been more confused in a class about what I needed to get done. I understood the material but still failed the class because she did not respond to my emails when I tried to sort out what I had to do for homework. Very upset that I wasted my time taking her class.

Comment:

Professor Brock is a really nice lady and genuinely wants to AND will help her students who show interest and effort. The HW takes forever!, but you're given ample time, so don't procrastinate on that, haha. The Exams are similar to the Practices, just go to lecture is all! In the end, I was just at getting a B, and she bumped my grade to an A.

Be prepared to move quickly and keep up with pace of lectures. Not really necessary to own textbook. Dr. Brock appears to genuinely take an interest in her students. Know all material inside and out and disregard what you think may or may not be on an exam. Overall, you learn a lot.

Dr. Brock tries to get to know students for whom she appears to genuinely care; however, there may be a disconnect between what she lectures and what is on exams. Overall you will learn a lot but be prepared to move quickly and keep up with her lectures. She is friendly.

She is awesome, just remember when you read these reviews to take it with a grain of salt because most of the bad reviews are from people that have failed her class. She really is the nicest person you will ever meet but dont think she's a pushover, she is difficult and people tend to confuse that with her being malicious. She cares for students.

Dr. Brock is one of the nicest teachers ever! She is always available. She knows a lot, but she doesn't know how to explain the material. Her teaching and notes are hard to understand. She is very fast! She expects you to know a lot from previous classes. If I was to take this class again, I would def choose someone else.

Pretty easy chemistry class.Her lectures are kind of pointless, just reads from her power point notes, which are much more helpful than the book IMO.Don't need to study the book for exams except for the hw problems she assigns. Gave a half an exam worth of extra credit, and its all easy extra credit problems, just do them.Don't be afraid of her.

She sucks, the book sucks, the class sucks...Seriously. She may know inorganic chem, but on the day they taught teaching in teacher school, she didn't show up. She doesn't post her notes. You spend the whole lecture copying frantically, you don't have time to learn anything. (Not that she's teaching it.) If questions are asked, she seems resentful.

The course itself was really hard, but Dr. Brock made it manageable. She was really helpful if you didn't understand something. Coming from one who hates inorganic chem, she made the class not terrible. Overall, great prof!
