Terrible teacher and out of date researcher. Have actually seen Stephen Alessi belittle students to the point of tears. Really awful social skills and poor interpersonal skills. Do not recommend him as an instructor. Avoid if possible! Bases his work on students skills/software. Beware!

Comment:

He is cold at first. A good researcher; also a good teacher once he learns you are a serious learner. He used to give permissions to call him at home for questions, as late as until 11:00 p.m., but he refused to answer questions on the same day when a project was due. Why? Plan ahead and be in control; don't wait until last minute and panick.

Comment:

Taught web-based course on web design for language learning websites. Course website was the most chaotic I've ever, e.g. links with same name leading to different documents. Sent long e-mails with important information at very bottom. Lots of busy-work assignments. Never listens - not even to legitimate concerns.

I totally agree with the previous rater. I learned a lot from him! He is a great teacher and researcher. You just need some time to adjust to his style.

I learned alot of valuable computer skills from him. He has a quiet confidence and alot of insight to share as long as you can get past the initial awkwardness. He maintains a high level of professionalism. I recommend it esp if you actually want to learn something about the field.
