Easy class, but if you are actually trying to learn something, don't take Meinhold. Boring lectures, bias and no effort is given by him.

This was the first class in my life that I actually looked forward to going to. The class was so interesting, and he makes it funny so it's easy to pay attention. 1 book review, 3 tests, (plus 1 more at the end of the semester to replace your lowest test grade) final. If you read the book you should be fine, also know the key words.

Dr. Meinhold doesn't tell you what he expects up front but he is very easy going! His lectures are awesome and his knowledge of government and politics is amazing! Read each chapter and know ALL key words and you will do just fine on his tests.

Meinhold was a fantastic professor. He makes the class applicable and easy to follow. You have to read the textbook in order to pass because all the multiple choice is taken straight out of the textbook chapters. However, he goes over the exact questions that he'll ask you on the exam for the open-ended part. Great professor.

He cancelled class a bunch. Lecture notes are online. 3 tests and 1 paper. Gives topics that will be on tests but never really teaches material. Talked a lot about things not pertaining to class material (Presidential election). Attendance isn't mandatory but I'd go the day before tests if anything.

He's clear in his lectures, he's been doing this a long time. Only teaches intro classes for now. He's a funny guy and is pretty laid back.

Meinhold is the guy you want to suck up to if you need a recommendation for law school or grad school. He basically runs Wilmington and is respected in Academia. He's obviously a genius, but he isn't a typical 'teacher' type. He doesn't care about attendance at all. No tests/quizzes, just essays. Impress him. He's a good guy to have on your side.

Interesting and great class and professor. One of my first classes at UNCW and helped me want to stick with Poli Sci.

Great teacher, hilarious, cusses a lot which spices class up and he is easy to get a hold of. He gets off on a lot of tangents in class so we do not cover a lot of material, we do not use the book but the test is based on the book so you absolutely need it. He is a tough grader but fair! Overall loved his class.

The midterm and final are 3 essays each that you have a week to write. He gives no criteria or rubric so you have no clue what you are graded on. He doesn't know what staying on topic is. He never accomplishes anything in class. I would never take a class with him again.

Meinhold was amazing. Interesting lectures, although most things said don't end up on the test. Tests are mainly based on assigned reading. Will usually openly hint at write-in questions ahead of time--pay attention. Tests were pretty easy. Can grade replace one exam with final grade, which was much easier than any test given. No written homework.

Meinhold's teaching is fine, personality wise he's very much a pompous ass. He frequently brings up topics and then decides not to expand on it because 'this is just an intro class and a lot of you don't care'.

Great teacher- the whole test is based on the reading a little of what he says in class. The only bits on the test from class is what he specifically says will be on the test. Very easy if you do the reading. I highly recommend this class. If you do your reading you will get an A. He cares for his students and tries to help you pass

We REALLY lucked up by getting him for Senior Seminar. And for those of you that don't, you are missing out. All we did was read writings of modern poly sci guys and analyze them. The big paper was a pain, but it is the final class for the major so that's to be expected. If he ever gets stuck teaching this again, sign up for it ASAP!

Probably the smartest professor I've had at UNCW. If you like the subject and like thinking empirically, he'll be incredibly interesting. If you don't, you'll probably be pretty bored. Class was pretty easy, granted he's not really accessible because he's got so much going on in academia.

His class was very disorganized. We didn't get the review outline until the day before the final. Sometimes his class room antics were funny which sometimes made class interesting. The exams were hard. As long as you keep up with numerous reading, you should be ok. Overall, I would not suggest taking this class, but I did make an A somehow.

He taught the 201 class this past summer and I'm so glad I took it then, instead of staying in Jones' boring a** class the previous semester! I'm sorry that others found him to be boring, but I enjoyed the discussions (and I'm fairly conservative). Maybe the warm weather and fewer students chilled him out, who knows. I'd recommend him to anyone.

he's definately opinionated and cocky, but i love him! The classes were predominately discussion about current events, so if you like to talk politics, take his class... but be prepared to be shot down every now and then. I found him really funny and entertaining, not bad at all!
