He is a very caring and nice professor. The material can be challenging as it is the canonical transition class to proof-based mathematics that undergraduates are expected to complete, so you'll have to put in the work to do well. With that said, his curve is pretty generous so an A is definitely attainable.

I took Professor Hudson for Calc II and Calc III and I love how he teaches. He does each section chronologically from the textbook and his website does give hints on what to study more for his tests. Also, he posts past exams to study for which really help. There are a lot of problems assigned for hw but only some are graded.

nice guy. Knows how to teach, however, the class is extremely difficult. First of all, he gives on average about 70-75 homework problems per WEEK. And if that isn't bad enough, the homework is only graded on a FEW select problems. Exams are tricky. Averages always in the 60s. Not the worst calc class you can take but if you have other options...

He's a very good calc professor. Lectures are clear and he knows the subject well. He gives you links to past exams to help you study, which I strongly recommend you do. Lots of homework, but needed to understand. Grades random problems from each set. Focus on his lecture examples and the past exams to do well.

Linear algebra with Hudson is a pretty difficult class that I found more difficult than calculus 2, which I aced. I feel bad for you if you take this class without having some sort of solutions manual for the book, and even with that expect a hell of a lot of work for a B. Tons of homework, hard tests, and his classes didn't help me much either.

I took Calculus 2 with the professor Steven Hudson. This professor is the greatest math professor at FIU. He is always very patient to teach his students and to go over anything that was not understood. He comes extremely prepared to teach and is very articulate, he words things properly, clear for everyone to understand. Tells fun stories

This is the only math professor I like at FIU. Professor Hudson is encouraging and fair. Nice guy with a good attitude and won't rob you of the grade you deserve. Tests are definitely reasonable. There won't be many (if any) problems you've never seen before. However he does sometimes throw one on there to see if you're really paying attention.

a lot of homework that will take a long time to complete. only counts for 10% of final grade but helps a ton when it comes to understanding the material. Only 3 tests so you better study for them. cool guy, I would definitely take again. I'm the kid in the class who constantly gets the highest test score so take my high opinion with a grain of salt

Homework takes a LONG time, even with the solutions manual. It also is only 10 % of the grade. He mentions that at least 10 hours a week should be spent on his class. Since his lectures are vague, and book reading needed, this means it really will take this long if not more. Exams are very tough, with the average around a 55, but he does curve.

So calculus 2 is very hard. Even with a great professor, the subject matter is still very difficult. Professor Hudson is a nice guy, and he knows the subject very well. However, he is not a good professor. The class started out full (47) and by the end, only 20 showed up for the final (avg was 48% for final). I'd bet 12 passed the class. Stay away.

Latest update from fall 2014. This guy is a horrible professor who failed 80% of my calc 2 class, myself included, when most of us where at a C grade at least. Not helpful, useless proofs of no application on the field, and tests are indeed unfairly graded and hard to way the least. Any other professor helps do not take this one.

Prof. Hudson's calculus class is not easy. Calculus in general is hard for most people and If you're going to take this class then be prepared to learn proofs and concepts (T/F questions). There might be an easier professor out there to take calculus with but if you're willing to study then you won't have a problem in Hudson's class.

I'm not sure if it's just just MAS 3105 or Steve Hudson, but this class was hard. He requires MATLAB homework and textbook homework, both of which can be very difficult. You will be required to memorize proofs. Don't take other math courses while taking MAS 3105, because you will be doing most of your learning outside of class.

Prof Hudson is a horrible teacher. His exams are unfair. Little to no partial credit. He makes you memorize proofs! No other diff eq prof does that because the proofs are pointless and long. His exams were confusing to understand bc of the wording. Do not take him. Take any other professor but him. trust me. Hudson seems nice but he isnt.

This is a very difficult professor. Requires homework and mathlab work. His quizzes are difficult and will sometimes have problems/proofs that are neither in the homework or old quizzes. Curves, but so do other professors. Which brings up my point: Why struggle with this guy when you can take the class with another, easier professor?

Great teacher, very helpful after class. Will always try his best to help you understand if you're having trouble. Don't be afraid to ask him, he's a really nice guy. Don't fall behind on the homework. Study the problems he grades on your homework. This class is not easy, and in order to pass you must stay on top of the material.

The big change is learning proofs, or writing in general. Everything else is easy because there's a(n old) solution's manual for Leon's book. As for his quizzes and tests, just work and actually learn as you work. That is how easy this class can be. He just reads off a script, rambling most of the info to you. My review day had no review at all.

I dropped the class. Didn't understand anything he was teaching and at some points would get into more advanced math that wasn't part of the class. Does collect homework but attendance is not mandatory. Uses book.

What really really helps is that you are able to see previous exams that he has given out so you know what to expect on yours. Easy points can be made by memorizing the proofs. He is a kind of hard because he is not lazy, however well prepared for class. Note taking in this class really helps on the tests. I hardly had to use my text book

Fantastic teacher. He always made sure to carefully explain the "why" behind ever step when he taught proofs. Also a very very fair teacher. The highest grade on the 3rd exam was a 97 and he still curved the A to be a 75 or higher. Always open to questions and takes his time to address them clearly and succinctly. Take for every math class you can!
