Unfortunately, this fantastic professor just retired. He is the most clear lecturer I have ever listened to. So clear in fact, that I didn't buy the book for the class and got a B+. He holds you accountable only for what is covered in lecture. His tests generally essay tests, but they are not too hard. If he teaches again, take his class!

Beware the tardy student that steps into this old war horse's path. Prof Shaprio is old school, he lectures clearly and extensively. However you have to work hard, cover the material be prepared. There are no take home tests, extra credit, this is old school. Pitch up at a test ill prepard and you will fail.Work at it you will be surprised

Looks and talks just like Joe Paterno. He should have retired 10 years ago too. I actually enjoyed Economics with previous professors, but not this guy. Got my only C in this class. Shapiro doesn't teach, rather lectures about why we should hate Bush. You better be able to draw well for his exams.

Not as bad as everyone says. Shapiro gives advise on how to do well in his class in his syllabus. I followed the advise; I made an A. You must take good notes. I recorded his lectures and reviewed them just in case I missed something the first time. His tests take the full class period to complete. Come Prepared!

Looks like Joe Paterno. Easy enough *if* you know what to study as exams are very predictible; be able to recreate and explain every single graph he draws and you'll make an "A". Easy grader on his term paper. Funny guy. The 1st test comes straight from the book's homework problems. The 2nd does not; find the graphs yourself on the internet.

This guy is terrible. he was not helpful. you do learn a lot about current events but it has nothing to do with the class. the only grade you get before drop date is the midterm. and most got in the 50s including someone who was an econ major. he was not helpful and told us that we should drop. avoid this guy cause he is as bad..

This class is more difficult than it seems at first. The lectures are VERY boring- Sometimes he just rambles on about nothing. The exams are all essay questions and there is only a midterm, final, and paper, so most of the class will drop after the midterm, which is the first and only grade you get before the drop date.

Did I like the fact that I got a B? NO.. but in the end whose fault is it but mine? He offers very detailed lectures, a great approach of deterministic microeconomics...too slow at times and he repeats everything 3 times but in general i cant complain too much. Didnt like his teaching style too much but got knowledge out of it.

I think this guy never got any and was beat up alot as a student, simply ridiculous more than half dropped the rest failed, he walks out into the hallway before each class and makes a phone call on the red phone, maybe he thinks he's batman or something..if you're looking for a BORING, DIFFICULT, and EXTREMELY UNPLEASANT class then this is for you

I can't stand this guy. I don't mind a difficult professor but he is rude and treated the entire class like we were idiots. I am a straight A student and I went to class everyday and I got a C while everyone around me failed and dropped.
