Dr. Ball was okay for University Physics. I think he spends way too much class time deriving equations instead of doing example problems. The tests were hard, but I did better on them as the class progressed. Overall he's a great guy and a decent teacher. If you are an engineering student you have to take him for this class though.

I had Dr. Ball for Astronomy as well as University Physics I lecture and both I & II labs, and he was always available to help outside of class to clarify and very interested in making sure I understood the subject matter and its application. Frankly, anyone who complains about his teaching style or grading system just isn't putting forth effort.

Lets get this out of the way I have been to 3 colleges, and I used to LOVE physics. His class crushed that love. He is quite possibly the worst science professor I have ever had. He love the guy.... But, The class average on several tests was upper 60's. This is completely inexcusable. Grades like that are the teachers fault, not the students.

Very difficult class, I had to take it twice. In Ball's defense, he is a good teacher, I'm just not always a good student. Nice guy, somewhat accessible outside of class, but he's busy so I wouldn't depend on that. Try to catch him right after class and he will help.

Time-consuming homework; tests reasonable. Only beef Mr. Ball was i too got screwed on my lab grade because the lab grader was a jerk. When i pointed out the blatant errors the grader did he refused to "undermine" his grader and change my grade
