Get Stu as a teacher but not as a Don (unless you already mesh with him and want to switch dons later)

Spence is easily one of the BEST teachers I've had at SLC--very organized and clear in what he wants from his students. In the hodge-podge environment of SLC, this is much appreciated. He's very knowledgable about what he teaches, and won't hesitate to help you understand material. Very witty too!

He's ok, the work isn't too hard and you will learn a lot about playwriting. He's a witty and knowledgeable guy but he can be very very smug about it...and don't wear weird clothes or he will make fun of them.

Simply put, I love Spence's class and am a better theatre artist for taking it. His theatre history course was so amazing that I miss it. Stuart Spencer is the most intelligent teacher I've ever had; his lessons are crystal clear and his wit is unparalleled. He stays on topic and encourages student opinion. His evals are short, but encouraging.

Very very methodological about his teaching -- he has his system and if you can roll with it (it's not hard) you're square. Don't miss class, though. You wind up doing twice the work that way.

Fabulous prof. He's not everyone's cup of tea, but he's smart and absolutely hilarious. Plus, he's willing to listen to people who disagree with him. He completely changed the way I look at plays.
