Sherry may seem scary at first and will chide you if you don't do your readings. That said, she is by far the clearest and most understandable professor I have EVER had, undergrad included. She's a genius and while she is a hardass in class she is INCREDIBLY kind outside of class and will go out of her way to help you understand.

Great professor who is clear about what is expected in class and on exams. One of the most structured classes I've taken at law school and very easy to follow

Sherry is more concerned with her version of the law than what the law actually proscribes. Her quizzes are less of a teaching tool and more of her attempting to shove her theories down your throat. It would be more of an annoyance and not an issue were she consistent on literally anything. Semantics matter depending on which way the wind blows.

Brilliant/fascinating yet unapproachable/confusing. Tends to distinguish how a court says it applied a rule from how she believes it should have been applied. Will not clarify which source will be tested-literal text or her interpretation. Not available-refers Q's to "student study groups." Tests assess your ability to predict Sherry-not knowledge

Not sure why Sherry is getting the negative ratings she has on here. She is a very tough teacher and requires you to work, but this concept it not really outside the realm of law school. She is quite focused and tells you exactly what she expects of you. Tough grader but does not try and play any tricks. Overall, an excellent professor.

She's the expert so she doesn't explain as much as she dictates what you should think. She uses the Socratic method but any and all conceptual questions are answered by telling you that she knows and you don't so you're wrong. Very structured but very boring and disheartening. She demands infinite respect and gives none.

Masterful use of Socratic Method - best of any professor I had in 3 years at Vandy law. She makes you work and think, and you're better for it. Afterward, she clearly sums up "what you should have learned" from that class. A perfect first-year course approach.

Professor Sherry is, quite possibly, THE standard by which all professors should be judged. She. is. just. that. good. She embraces complexity without sacrificing clarity. She is tough in a way that encourages mastering the material. And she cares. I have taken classes from 45+ professors since I started college. She is undoubtable in the top two.

I don't understand the negative ratings here. Sherry is likely my favorite professor. She won't cut you any slack in class, but it's nothing personal. Not only is she brilliant, but also a great teacher. Finally, she is often available in her office to talk about anything.

The other people posting here jsut didn't like law school. Sherry is competent, extremely impressive intellectually, and a great teacher -- who else gives quizzes mid-term in law school to help you judge your knowledge? Her door is always open for questions -- you just have to be willing to ask.
