Comment:
STEM major, took this for an english requirement. Lesbian Fictions was great. I loved it, loved the diversity and breadth/types of readings we did. Raitt does an AMAZING job facilitating class discussions. This was a C300, so a good chunk of our grade was not typical English class stuff. There was a LOT of reading, but class is very discussionbase

Professor Raitt is absolutely fantastic, hands down my favorite professor at WM. I had her for ENG 204 and I loved it so much I also took ENG 416 a year later just to be in class with her again. Professor Raitt is funny, insightful, and engaging, and also very easy to talk to when you need help or have questions. I can't recommend her enough!

I have never had a better lecture experience at W&M, her class was once a week for 2.5hrs and the time flew by in a way it doesn't for some of my 50min classes

If you have the slightest interest in British Literature (or whatever course she's teaching - trust me she'd make any course interesting/accessible), you could not do better than Professor Raitt. She will quietly encourage your participation in a way that does not seem pushy or unreasonable, and you will learn from it. 10/10 would recommend.

Great professor for such a reading intensive and analytical class. I don't particularly find the subject interesting, needed for my major, but she made it exciting. Loves what she does and tells you when something will be boring. I didn't buy the book but probably should have. 3 papers, mid-term, final, and small group projects/ in-class writings.

Professor Raitt is one of the best professors I have ever had at William & Mary. She is incredibly passionate about what she teaches and it shows in class. She works to make herself easily accessible if you have questions about your paper. I highly recommend taking a class with her! Absolutely lovely

I loved taking Brit Lit II with Professor Raitt. She is passionate about what she teaches, really helpful, and funny. As far as English classes go, this one isn't bad. There are 3, 4 page papers, weekly online modules, a midterm and a final. She gives great feedback on papers if you email them to her ahead of the due date. I learned a lot from her.

A brilliant and insightful professor who is always available to her students. A difficult grader, but she really cares when it comes to the performance of her students, so it balances out. Kind of want to be her when I grow up.

Prof Raitt made Brit Lit II enjoyable. She fosters in class discussions and really worked with you so you could do well on the papers. It's so clear she has a deep passion for British lit (she's from Britain anyway) and she shares her love for it with the class. Take her, she was awesome!

She's a very difficult grader and her comments are ambiguous. When you approach her she even questions them herself. She doesn't guide discussions well and oftentimes there's a lot of downtime in which we don't do anything constructive. I felt like I was reading and writing papers without the advantage of having a professor at my disposal.

The best class ever. I was not looking forward to it at the beginning of the semester and it was easily my favorite class in retrospect. She is clever, insightful, funny, and assigns great reading. Additionally, she is very helpful with explaining and grading assignments. She wants to get to know sudents outside of class, and is very fair. LOVE!

Absolutely incredible English professor. Makes things interesting, provides fantastic analyses, and really knows what she's talking about. Always willing to work with you and to give extensions--really just concerned with you learning the material. All English majors should have her at least once, she's amazing!

Professor Raitt is awesome. I had NO interest in the class before I took it, just thought I should be more educated in Victorian Novels and now I'm in love. She makes class go by so fast, and is so helpful. AND she has a british accent, which is just the icing on the cake.

Literally amazing! As a senior having taken ALL of her classes, I hate that she doesn't teach more. The best, most intelligent prof W&m has to offer, hands down. Somewhat intimidating: our grade is a 25pg, thesis-worthy article, but the best work I've ever done here. Be prep'd to analyze like you've never done before, and learn more as a result

I looove her. Seriously the nicest professor ever. She's entertaining and engaging, creates a comfortable environment that fosters discussion. She'll give the entire class extensions if she thinks you're looking sad. Take any class you can with her; you won't regret it.
