Ms. Ahramjian is a fantastic teacher. I have learned so much from her in the short amount of time that she's been my teacher- I have improved tremendously. She isn't very organized, but her heart is in everything she does. I'm grateful to have had her in my life.

Great teacher when you do the work & take her advice. Always willing to listen. Doesn't consistently reinforce expectations, so sometimes her requests seem to come out of left field, but it's all in the syllabus. Watch out when she's moody, though. She's not too good at keeping her mood out of her teaching. Be organized yourself because she is not.

I am sickened to read all of these negative comments. Sylvia is a genius, simply put. Not only is she a fantastic musician and teacher, but she cares infinitely for her students. I have witnessed only the laziest, most ignorant "violin students" making such bold and blatantly incorrect criticisms. WCU is incredibly lucky to have her.

She has really gone down hill, apparently. From what I heard, she USED to be a really good teacher, but I don't think her heart is in teaching anymore. She has even passed on her non-favorite students to another teacher. She should not be teaching anymore if she doesn't enjoy it because her negativity is discouraging to her students.

Usually people who switch out of her studio or complain about her can't cope with the hard work, they're lazy. She helped me through a great senior recital and coached our quartet to MTNA. Her private students are amazing and the college students who are willing to put in the effort see results. I'll miss her dearly when I graduate.

I was a viola major at WCU, but i switched to voice because of this teacher. She is unorganized and apparently never learned how to give constructive criticism. She bashed me at every lesson, and I learned absolutely nothing from her. She also found it more necessary to critique my life choices, more so than my playing

She was AWFUL as a violin prof and an even worse conductor of the String Ensemble. Had more luck with the orchestra conductor at the time for private violin lessons, but the dean wouldn't let me take lessons w/ him for credit.

one word describes her - fantastic. Patient, gives lots of extra time, has incredible background and knowledge about how to fix problems. If your IQ is less than 50, do not play the violin, try the slidewistle.

She was incredibly unorganized,and also not very smart. Also she was an awful conductor, how she ever got the conducting class is beyond me. I've had some bad conductors in my day, but she was absolutely the worst. If she flaps her arms anymore, she'll fly away. it is really quite frightening.

pretty fair. as long as you show up, put forth effort, & look like you're trying, you'll get an A. I've never touched a string instrument before.. I had the worst tone & bowing, but I still got an A for trying. Focus is to get the basics & be able to teach them, not to play like a string major.
