Comment:

Difficult but doable class, but it wouldn't be as bad if his attitude was to help the student and be more understanding. Although he is knowledgeable, dealing with him was not at all a positive experience for me. Also, he has been confirmed to reuse material in many of his classes; if you take one of his classes, you've taken them all.

Comment:

I think he's better than most professors. I was the type who studies for 1 hour and then passes the exams, sometimes with A's, sometimes with B's. The Machine Learning class is obviously a master's level/grad level course, so make sure you can do it. Some of the talk seemed like filler/time wasted, self-promoting, etc.. but overall good experience.

I disagree with the negative ratings on this professor. He is a fair man and he wants you to learn the material. There is a lot of work, but the assignments and due dates are clearly explained and scheduled from the first day of class. If you put in the work, you will get an A even if you have a bad exam. His English is fine.

I read the reviews and was fearful. However the professor is not all bad. He is caring and accommodated certain issues I had during the semester. It is a semester filled with a lot of work. Lectures are BORING but MUST watch. Exams are tough but he curves because people do bad. Do the HW and Small Projects as best as you can and you will survive.

You have to be willing to put in a lot of work to do well in his class. He doesn't post notes online, so you have to go off his lectures. Do the homework assignments just like the textbook examples and follow his lectures carefully for the papers.

Terrible, boring professor. He just reads the textbook and assigns lots of homework assignments. He doesn't provide any feedback and complains when you are doing stuff wrong. I should have listened to the other reviews.

I really wanted to get it a shot because it was an elective. Now my GPA is ruined. Although he is very smart, he does not know how to teach. Exams were ok, but homework and projects were difficult. He did not explain anything very well. Study from your notes, you're basically on your own. But just stay away.

Utterly useless when it comes to any meaning questions. Instructions and guidelines to perform homework/ projects or questions on test uninformative, and will mark you wrong even if you took the answer farther than he wanted, even if that wasn't explained in the question itself. Stay away if you want to learn anything about the subject

Makes easy things so complicated. Important links to project assignments are hidden within his lecture instead of posted to a class website. Some instructions are only told orally, so must attend classes and take notes. Syllabus is by no means something to rely on for planning ahead. I love machine learning, but he just makes it not fun at all.

This professor is awesome!! He gives you bonus points for anything. He knows his stuff and is probably one of the most experienced professors in computer science at FAU. Just take good notes, and read the book and you'll do just fine. His project is not hard at all either. I cannot believe he has so many bad ratings. Take him!

I took him for software testing in fall and data mining in the spring. If you take his class be ready to work. He expects graduate students to do graduate level work and his tests are damn hard. But to make up for this he is an extremely lenient grader and a teacher who is interesting in students learning. His project is also not that bad.

What a loser. Crazy project, and he is a jerk. An unforgiving butt-hole. You will learn nothing except how much work he will cram down your throat to make up for his lame-o classes. He is an embarassment to the teaching profession and FAU. The text is 20 years old (and out-of-print), as is anything useful in this class (which isn't much).
