Comment:
He just reads his notes, so sometimes it's hard to maintain focus. Movies are shown every now and then...some are better than others. Tests are manageable. Memorizing stuff about Milgram is half the battle, especially in the latter part of the course. Takes attendance (God only knows why). Just show up and you'll be fine for the most part.

Class is hard unless you go to class and do the readings. Tests weren't so hard. Focus on the actual psychologists he talks about! that is how you pass the class. Always get names of movies, studies, and experimenters.

By far the WORST class I have ever taken. Horrendous teaching, terrible TAs, extremely poor communication-no one EVER emails you back. He makes no sense when talking in class, tests are atrocious and their grading "procedures" are horrible. Please if you have any other options to take this with another professor PLEASE DO SO.

Graded one three exams and a presentation. The exams are basically by the book. The lectures were pretty boring. He doesn't talk very loud and needs to use a microphone.

Dr. Blass is a psych legend, but unfortunately he is aging. His voice is very soft& he doesn't used a mic/slides. He gives interesting examples that help you remember. Exams are pretty decent. He usually adds about 7-8 points to exam scores. We only had 3 exams and one oral presentation that is only worth 7 percent the other 93 come from exams.

Comment:
Dr. Blass is a difficult professor, make no mistake. However, he is enormously familiar with the material, and is willing to lend you a hand if he perceives that you are actually working at the material. Tests are very long, but not particularly difficult if you have studied and attended lecture. He is THE authority on Milgram, if you have ?s.

Comment:
You will read A LOT of articles and will be tested on them. Always do article reviews. Blass is very hard to keep up with, so sit up front and try your best to stay focused - really boring. This class stresses the little details, so don't pull papers off at last minute and submit rough drafts. Only a little bit of extra credit, so don't slack.

Boring, cant hear/see a thing he says/does.Not worth showing up to class except for lab.TAs little disorganized.Too much reading and paper.Better just read articles yourself 2 than go to class.I liked lab with TAs 2 learn how 2 write results. Only 2 big experiments which you write up a paper. Most things arent graded in lab.Little extra credit.

I recommend being interested in taking social psychology before taking his class, otherwise you'll find him rather boring and not engaging. Exams are based majority on lectures. Great teacher, very willing to help outside of class if you are serious about psychology. Grades are straightforward- you earn the grade you want if you put in effort.

He's an old man who knows what he's talking about. He may be a tad redundant at times and throw some useless facts at you but he knows his stuff. Basically he talks and you copy down everything he says. Thoroughly skim the textbook and that should prepare you for exams. He can get pretty specific at times. Overall, a great class.

Dr. Blass is excellent for 332. He discusses all the readings in depth the day after they're assigned. He is an EXPERT on Milgram so you'll hear about that a lot... his exams are easy as long as you go to lecture. The book is useless in this class. His TA Colleen is AMAZING but she's leaving. Only downside is he can be boring at times.

He is very old, hard of hearing, and mumbles through his notes that he has written on old, yellowed papers. Maybe at one time his lectures were interesting, but in this day and age, he is outdated, and was SO BORING. His comments to people in clear sometimes rude, mostly because he just can't hear what is being said. Save yourself some boring hours

Very interesting class, great professor. Exams are long but they aren't hard as long as you take decent notes and do all the readings. I can see why some might find him boring, but I thought he was pretty captivating. He tells a lot of interesting stories and loves puns and Woody Allen-style humor. Lots of fun, really nice guy!

Decent Professor. Exams are decent. Gives out a study guide which helps a lot. Take Psyc 332 during the summer with Prof. Blass. He makes it easy and semi-interesting. Grade fairly. Tells you exactly what he wants on the paper. Don't force students to participant in class disucssion. Great TA.

Decent Professor. Boring lecture but otherwise I really liked him as a Professor espically for PSYC 332. Give a study guide for exams which is actually very helpful. Gives out a lot of article reading. Should read the articles because it is on the exam. Exam is decent (not too hard. Overall, I suggest you take him.
