He's a nice guy, laid back and takes attendance when he feels like it but.. he's a horrible teacher. His tests are hard.. not because of the material that's on it but how he words the questions. He gives you a lot of trick questions and will put things on the test that weren't on the study guide. I would recommend this class, just not with him.

He is a horrible professor. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM. He's inconsistent and useless. He gives curves but they can actually bring your grade lower!

Hes a nice guy, laid back. He doesnt teach or take attendance. all the students do fail his tests but he gives really big grading curves, so even if you dont do well on the test you get a pretty decent grade.

Not bad, a little inconsistant but otherwise an easy A if you open the book and pay a little bit of a attention.

He didnt really teach his class, and everyone in his class failed each of his tests. EVERY SINGLE ONE. In a class of 80, having every student fail 3 tests should say something. For the second test, I made 1000 flash cards, read the chapter twice, and took his study guide and made paragraph answers to each question. Got a 50. Do NOT take.

In general a great teacher, he is very laid back. The tests can be hard but if you read the book you'll do fine. Gives extra credit and actually wants his students to do well. Tends to cancel class a lot.

I had him just before he caught a very bad flu and then proceeded to cancel most of the classes up until the first test. Nearly everyone failed it, because we had no one to teach and the actual textbook was awful because it was unbound. Not really his fault for kinda abandoning us for the rest of the semester since he was sick.

He's a very laid back professor and doesn't take attendance. He teaches from a powerpoint presentation every class, and he's very passionate about the subject. His tests are rather difficult so you do have to study, but he does give generous grading curves. There are three tests, a final exam, and a final research paper.

Class is basically an open discussion about the textbook reading. No lectures, no notes, no tests. Three frustrating papers, but he is a fair grader. Tough guy to read, but you can get a good grade by just concentrating on the assigned papers.

The book is awful! You will want to burn it when you are done. It's very much self directed, come to class prepared. Too many papers!

Tom is such a laid back guy with a great personality. His class is tough though, he is very very smart and his tests are therefore difficult. But it's worth dealing with them, because you will learn a lot, and if I could pass without buying the book, a bit of work will get anyone through.

Engaging professor but seriously you don't have to attend class to pass. The papers have very little to do with class discussions. I'm not saying it's an easy class--be prepared for some very difficult, stress-inducing papers.
