Tom is pretty informal as a professor and can actually seem fairly nervous. But he's a really cool guy. He's really helpful, likes to crack jokes during lecture, and is fairly clear. His HW is ENTIRELY based around attempts, not correctness. Willing to help you get the grade. If there's any guy you want to have for an intro-level class, it's him.

Best math teacher I've ever had. I've struggled with math all my life and was dreading taking the honors calc series, but so far under his teaching I've been able to understand everything easily. He's very helpful, and cares about how well you do. Strongly recommend his math classes.

Tom is an excellent teacher - he's very good at explaining things and he's super friendly. You can tell he really cares about his students and wants you to succeed. I wouldn't say that 251 is a horribly difficult class in the first place, but the way Tom teaches it makes the class pretty easy.

I am planning on becoming a math teacher, and I really hope that I can someday be as helpful and organized as Dr. Tom. He gives us time to think for ourselves, and he actually stayed on campus until about 11 oclock one night working on a proof with one of my friends. If I had this teacher for all of my math classes, I'd be ready for anything.

I don't like to say a teacher is easy, especially in a class that I learned so much in, but I would say his classes are easy. Not actually because the class covers easy material, or he is so easy in his grading, but because he makes the subject so interesting. I can't say enough good things about this teacher, TAKE HIS CLASSES!!

Tom is really interesting. It helps that this material is interesting to think about, but Tom is always in his office to give hints on the homework. Tests are open notes and book, and he gives a take home midterm and take home final. He wants you to do well.
