Not a bad class at all. He's way too busy to teach, though. He piles on assignments with ridiculous deadlines because of seemingly poor planning on his part. Lectures are informative and interesting, though. Clearly a great professor that has taken on too many responsibilities as the Dunagan Chair..

Comment:

Payne is one of the best professors on this campus. He always keep lectures interesting and informative. He's well-connected and always brings in great speakers from the banking industry. HIGHLY recommend him. This isn't a "memorize this and regurgitate it on the test" class-- it's actual learning. Fantastic.

This man can tell a story!!! The class is ery diffculty and he makes it no better going off topic all the time. But he is nice and means well. You will have to spend a lot of outside class time keeping up with the news to understand what he is talking about in class and on tests. He grades very very hard on tests.

Dr. Payne is the worst teacher I have had at UTM. He is unorganized and his expectations of the students are ridiculous. His last exam consisted of 14 MC & a couple essay ? where some counted 20 pts.He was also 10 mins late to proctoring his own exam! Ill definitely avoid taking him again in the future.

He teaches the material in a way that I could understand it. Very Helpful and doesn't talk down to you like most teachers do. The final was optional!! I am taking him again for 341.

His methods for teaching are hard, and we never did anything in class till the last few weeks. Then we were all so stressed out over finals. He never gives multiple choice tests they are all discussion and are hard to pass!!

Dr. Payne is one of the nicest teachers i have ever had. His tests are hard, and he talks above the students heads alot. However, the homework counts for 28% of your grade, if you do it you get full credit. Put it this way, I made a low d on both tests and ended up with a B in the class due to home work and the final.

One of the worst "teachers" I have ever had! The man simply cannot teach. Too bad they will never get rid of him. He's a department chair--he's not going anywhere. Tests were all essay and very hard. Grades roughly. Everyone was failing at midterm. Final was over something we NEVER went over or talked about in class. I learned nothing in this class

Super nice guy. Exams are all essay and pretty tough. He gives you a fairly good study guide and it is all pretty much on the exam. Bank Sim was fun, but would have liked a little more direction. Lectures are discussions about current events. Grading is fair on exams. My class was @ 8am and it amazed me that every day he came in with a big smile!!

Good guy but lost me $5000 in the market b/c he spent all his time fixing his hair when he shouldnt have put all my dough in tyco when it fell 50 pts. Its really sad to see a grown man look at himself in the mirror all day long with a smile on his face.

Hard tests, they're all essay. But, he gives you a pretty good study guide. You have to study on your own. He is the nicest teacher, but he likes to ramble, so you don't really get what's going to be on the test.
