Tim is brilliant and knows well about materials. This class is new one and it is also first time for him to teach, and he is pretty honest and said he also learns this stuff. He did great job and tries to make clear to us. Exam is basic and the rule is that even though you have no idea with this question, write some will make you get 30% grade

He is not very respectful and considerate of his students. His powerpoints are the same as the textbook. Not patient.

Very knowledgeable in economic evolution and schools of thought. This class did not have any homework other than to do the readings, but you must do them in order to be successful. The exams were completely response based, so deep understand is required to do well. He used class time efficiently and it was very enjoyable. I'd take another with him.

I didn't realize that this would end up being one of my two favorite classes I've ever taken at university. Tim is extremely knowledgeable about the subject, and really convinces you how relevant the history of economic thought is to our modern concerns and policy questions. I can't recommend this class strongly enough.

This prefessor is awesome. I've been studying economics for 3 years in different places over the world such as Saudi Arabia and New Zealand. Tim is the best prefessor I had ever. He has a magic touch that makes economics so interesting. Tim is a great teacher who cares about his students. If you want to learn economics Tim will teach you well

Not an easy class! Lectures were not exactly clear, requires much work to finish the Homework. Finals are average in easiness.

I loved Tim's class! The material, which could have been very boring, was presented extremely well. Tim certainly expects you to learn the material and be ready to talk about it. One of the best teachers I've had!

Lecture appears laid back but you need to know material. The 'textbook,' Naked Economics, was decent and yet provided a very poor & rough outline. I read the book cover to cover, aced the final & pulled out a B+. If you miss one of Duy's lectures you're screwed b/c he doesn't repeat much very often. Good luck... (The GTFs are almost worthless.)

Tim has a very interesting style of just talking for about fifty minutes straight about some of the most boring topics on the face of the planet. He will really screw your grade in the end because he didn't do what he said on the syllabus, which was to weigh each midterm and the final. Overall he's just an ok professor.

Duy is a great speaker. He knows his topics as well as he (possibly) knows himself. I think his test are really hard but if you attend class and take good notes there should be no problems. The final which I bombed be PREPARED it is difficult to say the least.

Professor Duy is one of the most helpful teachers I've ever had--he is very supportive of undergrads and has been a great (and very patient) thesis advisor. His Evolution of Economic Ideas class was fabulous, if you go in for that sort of thing.

I disliked Prof Duy a lot. He was rude and not helpful at all. I did all the readings, went to my GTF's office hours every week, and studied my ass off for his tests and I still struggled. He has no patience for those who aren't extremely business-minded and actually have to work hard to understand the material.

Tim really does know his stuff, but teaching it to the entire class... not his best subject. The class starts out somewhat easy then all the sudden it gets tough. The tests are very hard and yes you must do the reading. The final is a doozy, so pay attention in class ( and you have to make yourself) and study your notes!

He's a teacher that certainly knows what he is saying..I'm just not sure if he knows how to explain it clearly enough for such a large lecture. You must do all the oustside reading to really do well on the tests. The tests are pretty hard..but managable. You can't do well without studying.

He's a pretty good teacher. He keeps repeating the same saying over and over again, though. Like,"at the end of the day".
