I have never been more disappointed in a professor. His teaching style gives no reflection to what you've learned, and quite honestly I have no idea what we learned. He enjoyed talking about his thought processes on concepts. He is really funny and insightful, but I would not take his class again. It is an easy two hours of homework a day.

There were two assignments in the class - which means a huge margin to fail. His lecture is mostly notes from the book, so you can skip class often. When you do attend the class is a waste of tuition. He often jokes around and prepares very little for lecture. Avoid his courses and try to get Dr. B - Bartlett is brilliant.

Ineffective professor. Simply put, waste of time and energy of a paying student who's ready to get new insights and learn something from the class. I got an A, and learned nothing. I was taught by books. Take this course with someone else, or take a different option to fill your requirements.

Get ready to read and type your butt off. It is important to go to his lectures every day, and make friends to cover your back. You'll have many weekly and daily writing reflections (which don't take long). It's an easy A if you stay on top of the reflections and constant readings, but it's A LOT of reading and time management!

This class is useless. I don't recommend taking this course. His instructions are vague and there is no rubric for the 12-15 page paper due at the end of the quarter. The discussions can be interesting.

Todd's a great professor. He goes out of his way to help his students He genuinely cares and knows a lot about soc. I would recommend taking him as a professor any day as long as you come to class and do the work you will do just fine. He has peaked my interest in sociology more than ever before.

Professor Hechtman has a way of making social problems interesting. He can be extremely funny, and he lightens the mood for some depressing topics. There are 2 assignments, each accounting for half of your grade, but the work isn't too bad if you keep up on it everyday. There is a lot of reading, writing so be ready for a page a day of writing.

He was a bad teacher. He judged kids for saying something that didn't agree with his narrow view and didn't grade our midterms until the end of finals week.

I took Hechtman fall quarter of my Frosh year. His discussion's are interesting. Always uses the whole class time. Kept setting back the dates when learning targets were due. Recommend attending class everyday to get notes. Take at your own risk.

I want to warn everyone do not take any methods class from him. I took soci 357. I went to see him during offices three times, he was never there. His assignments are extremely long and vague. half or more of class dropped I wish I had. I'm terrified I won't pass.

He gave no direction on the paper and refused to help anyone on the paper. Multiple people failed his class and multiple others passed with a D. I wouldn't recommend taking this class from him.

To whoever is below me, pretty sure college in general is a WASTE of your time considering you can't spell. Todd is a fun professor that knows what he is talking about. Class lectures are entertaining, and the "side tracking" adds to lectures in my opinion. Recommend the course!

2nd class with Todd, he is funny and seems to know what he is talking about...he does however tend to lose focus pretty easily. But over all, two assignments, piece of cake, easy A just do the work as he requests. Will take more classes with him.

Amazing teacher! I had no idea that I would one day be interested in sociology. This class requires daily reading & writting outside of class, but it is very doable and easy if you do a little every day. Makes one realy think about our every day lives in a different context. Take it! You won't regret it!!! :)

I found this class to be very frustrating. Its a ton of writing assignments that are due all at once, so homework is constantly haunting. He can be vulgar, thinks he is entertaining the class by talking about**** and sexual acts. Lectures are not interesting. Pros? no tests, no class on Fridays. Not worth it to me though.

Uses off-color and humorous stories to teach without raising people's defenses about sensitive topics like racism and bigotry, which I found to be brilliant. Does swear, but no more than most people I know. I was not pleased to have no idea what my grade was until after the class ended, which was very stressful.
