I've had Knapp for WWI and WWII. Very informative teacher he really knows what he's talking about. His lectures can get boring at times though. Class workload isnt too demanding but he's a tough grader. Don't go out of your way to talk his classes, but by no means try and avoid them.

Comment:

Knapp is notorious for being a hard grader. His prompts may seem obvious or easy but be warned! Its not so! He is really tough on grading and the class is not as fun as the title sounds. WWII is a boat load of reading (6+ books, and you will need to read them). This class is not worth it, even for so-called "history/WWII buffs"

The guy knows what he is talking about and it was an interesting class. But I did all the readings and came to all of the classes and got a B+. All the 1 page papers were easy, but essay and take home midterm were impossible to determine what he really wanted and prompts were terrible. Good class, bad grading.

Comment:

Had for WWI and Nazi Revolution, will again for WWII. Professor Knapp is an asset to Loyola. Very funny and always willing to spend lots of class time answering any questions you may have. Really knows his stuff and makes it INTERESTING. I looked forward to every class. Not the easiest grader, but do the readings and you'll be fine. Take him.

I had Dr. Knapp for WWI, and he is fantastic! He knows his stuff and is humorous to boot. He's very good about answering questions during class, and is an expert at keeping students engaged. Also, you write about 4 one page response papers, and an 8 page comparative essay on two books, so it's not too much work - but he can be a tough grader.

Where to begin. Knapp rocks. Funny guy in a dead pan way, but that's what makes it so funny. Interesting subject and includes anecdotes that makes things even more interesting. Knows what he is talking about and makes the students interested in it too. There is a reason why he came out of retirement! People love him, including me!

He is the reason I changed my major to history. Great professor, great lectures - take good notes and you can forget about the readings. He has a unique sense of humor but once you understand it you will be hooked. A smart, nice, and intelligent man. I took him for 4 classes, he is one of the best professors at Loyola. Very highly recommended.

Looking back, he is probably the worst teacher I've had in all of college. He is boring, unhelpful, and doesn't give good grades no matter how hard you try. His TA graded so strictly and he was never specific about what he wanted.

VERY INTERESTING. Not dry dates history, but relevant & shows how it commenects & plays a part in today's history, or at least shows how events play a part in later in history. Practical, interesting, wise. ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP OUTSIDE OF CLASS. Great person in & out of class, favoring students.

Great prof who knows his material and knows how to teach. Easily the best history teacher at Loyola, take him while you can , he is retiring soon. His grading system makes it easy to get an A or B+ IF YOU DO THE WORK. Great Prof.
