Tom is hilarious, kind, and makes this class manageable especially if you are taking the course for a science elective. The lab quizzes are tough but manageable, and his exams are interesting but once you get the hang of them you'll be fine. He is very accessible, and always willing to help you out one on one if you need it. I highly recommend him!

Tom is good person but his lectures are very boring and some people even fall into a deep sleep in his class. His lab quizzes are also extremely hard, unless you study every single daY. Although his midterms are fair. Overall he is very boring.

Great teacher, laughed a lot! To do well, attend class and write everything down that he puts on the board, most of it will be on the exam. As long as you study his notes really well you can get an A in the class, the exams are straight forward and a just like his notes, make sure to pay attention to his drawings!Study hard for lab quizs though!

Tom is awesome! He is an interesting, nice, funny, simple going teacher. You have to attend class lectures for mid term exams & final exam. He doesn't use power point, he likes it the old fashion way. Not everything will be covered in class just the main points so make sure you spend hours reading & studying textbook.

Tom was a great teacher. He used sometimes usual but hilarious humor to keep the class interested. Tests were reasonable if you came to class. Lab quizzes and activities were useful. This year he wrote study topics prior to each test which helped as he didn't teach everything tested in class. Great time in this class!

He was such an interesting fellow I was never bored in his class. He made learning fun and had good tricks for remembering everything. I would absolutely take a class with him again as he is one of the best and warmest teachers I have ever had.

Loved his classes. He explains things clearly both verbally and through overhead pictures. Is very approachable. Wants his students to succeed and is willing to go the extra mile if you show you're willing to put the work in, too. Study his notes well. Youtube any concept that isn't clear, and you'll do well. Would take classes from him again.

Great teacher, made things interesting, he clearly loves biology and teaching it. Marks assignments pretty easy.. a little tougher when it comes to exams. Just study everything you can for the finals and you'll easily pass, he's a fair teacher. Would take another class of his again in a heartbeat compared to other bio teachers at camosun..

Tom is interesting to listen to and often has funny stories. However, I found him difficult to learn from. His exams and quizzes were very hard, and he is a hard marker. He is confusing, and says you only need to study the notes, but things appear that were definitely not in the notes. Good luck

Really didn't enjoy this class. Takes up all your time. You never know what to expect on his exams, and he's a hard marker. You need to spend alot of your time studying for lab exams, because they're extremely difficult. Class average was about 50%. Avoid this teacher if possible. It doesn't need to be this difficult.

awesome teacher. just study what he writes on the board because it's all you need to study for the tests. don't really use the text book except during labs. labs are the hardest part. study really hard for this class is all memorization. if you study 2 hours a day for 5 days a week you will get an A in this class. it's on of those classes you need

tells you notes are all you need to study from...then blind sides you on tests!! no organization, no practice tests, NOTHING!!! gets snippy when you ask questions regarding tests, exams etc. when over half the class is failing.....YOU NEED TO CHANGE YOUR TEACHING STRATEGY!!!

Her is very approachable, but his explanations can leave you a little frazzled. He is a fair marker but has a habit of correcting grammar on assignments. He gets a little off topic in class but his facts and notes are solid. He definitely tries, but sometimes has trouble getting info across. Look out for the Lab Exams, they are really tricky.
