Comment:
Dr. Wolf is actually good at teaching math but you have to do the homework if you want to do well in this particular class. He assigns a lot of matlabs, quizzes and tests tho which is pretty annoying. You will have to work hard in his class to do well.

Comment:
Dr. Wolf was a pretty decent professor, definitely one of the better ones I've had. He covered A LOT of material in just one quarter, and assigned a good bit of challenging homework problems which were usually more difficult than those on his tests. Only complaint was that he didn't really seem too concerned with explaining things in depth.

Dr. Wolf has one of the most brilliant mathematical minds I have witnessed. He works about 4 steps ahead of himself and therefore misses the occasional (-) sign, but overall an exceptional instructor. Great examples in class of varying difficulty. Very Interesting Fellow

I had Tom Wolf or "Flow" as he calls himself. I had him in the winter of 2004 when my friend died of cancer. I asked to move a test because of a funeral and he wouldnt let me. I failed the test, and after I turned it in I told him to f--- off and the entire 2nd floor of Morton heard me. The story was still circulating when I graduated in 2006.

I had Dr. Wolf for the graduate algebra sequence. I was very prepared for my comp by this class. Explanations are very clear, proofs include all the details including those omitted from text. He assigns a good amount of difficult homework (as in comp level or even above) but I found that helpful. My only complaint is that he grades a little hard.

He is a difficult teacher, and you have to really prepare for tests and quizzes. But, he does teach clearly so if you go to class and study you'll be fine. You'll learn a lot, and he's good at answering questions. 2 of our 5 quizzes were takehome, and he drops a quiz and a test. Even so, still a challenging class.

Fast but good teacher, draws on a 2nd grade level but knows it and makes fun of himself. Go to class.

Prof. Wolf gives a very good theory based class that is sure to challenge the "not so theory based" students by pushing your/our studying skills to the limit. Still though, I enjoyed his class and will surely take hime again.

He might ride his bike to class everyday and not change his clothes that often, but if you like math, you'll like him. No difficult to understand accent, and unlike a lot of profs, he actually gets work done. Sometimes classes move fast, but if you go see him during office hours he's very helpful.

Tom is absolutely brilliant and is able to teach the entire abstract algebra course without referring to a book or notes. He teaches this course at the graduate level, which makes it both challenging and enjoyable. He knows the class is tough and adjusts the grading scale appropriately (80 = A).

About halfway through, I lost him because he was jumping around and was hard to keep up with. He also made mistakes which wasted time. He didn't allow calculators and his tests had a lot of bs about graphs. I am now retaking the course.

Tom knows math. He doesn't allow calculators in class. He often makes costly mistakes at the begining of a problem and ends up wasting alot of time. He is willing to help anyone. He looks just like christopher lloyd from back to the future.

Tom Wolf is a very good teacher. He is a no book / notes / calculator kind of guy though. Tom is a quirky guy who isn't thrilled with today's technology, but really knows his math. He isn't the easiest, but he is one of the best.
